Re: Fernandez
As Justin is a student-athlete first and foremost, just hope and pray that his 4th school in 5 years will do a good job of making sure his academic credits are properly transferred and that he gets a degree. We all know that should be priority number one for kids in college.

Re: Fernandez
And Syracuse is reportedly having a difficult time attracting good candidates for their open coaching position because they only have $8 million in NIL money available.
Re: Fernandez
Well, those basketball recruits do have to spend an awful lot of money on warm clothing for those Syracuse winters...top of the line Gore-Tex stuff isn't cheap.
It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.

Re: Fernandez
Do most/all college athletes have their own agent? i wonder how much the agents get? A percentage of the NIL $ the player gets when he commits to a college? Are these agents vetted by the NCAA?

They are not vetted by the NCAA. Lot of shady agents out there giving athletes terrible advice, Bill.BlueHenBill wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2026 5:35 pmDo most/all college athletes have their own agent? i wonder how much the agents get? Re: Fernandez
Agents or advisors representing Division 1 basketball transfers typically charge 10% to 20% of the player's NIL deal value, says The Athletic, and high-major transfers often secure deals ranging from $200,000 to over $1 million. Unlike professional contracts capped at 3-5% by unions, NIL agents often demand higher percentages for managing complex, non-contractual transfers, though flat-rate fees are also common in the industry.BlueHenBill wrote: ↑Wed Mar 18, 2026 5:35 pmDo most/all college athletes have their own agent? i wonder how much the agents get? Ufforever1, Thanks for the info. I am not surprised but disappointed that there are many shady agents giving bad advice to college athletes.
Re: Fernandez
Mid-level college basketball is so messed up and I think UD is really hurt. I don't know how much NIL money is available but I think football gets most of it. It was so great for a school like High-Point to win a game in the Tourney but in the future the rich will get richer. They absolutely have to do something to put a cap on the madness.
Re: Fernandez
Commits to UAB.
Re: Fernandez
Good spot for him
Re: Fernandez
Hmmm…that’s an odd one. You’d like to think we could come up with a financial package close to what UAB could offer. They do play in the American, so much better competition than CUSA. Eventually it would be nice if we could get the program to a point where we could retain players vs losing them to a school like UAB.

Re: Fernandez
I agree.
We aren’t going to be a UVA but I feel we can become a UAB or similar American conference schools which is a very solid well respected program .
