The conference champion gets a play in game…ehhh I miss the CAA. I feel as though you win your conference you should not get a play in game…lame.
Re: CUSA Women's Championship, Quarterfinal: Louisiana Tech
I do miss CAA for the regional rivalries in hoops, but the difference in seeding was the conference tournament champion.
Conference USA was the 16th best conference via NET and Torvik on the Women's side, while the CAA was the 23rd on both sites. Here was the difference between the two champions:
CUSA - Missouri State: 22-12, 11-7 in CUSA play (T-3rd, 6 seed due to tiebreakers). 115 NET, 127 Torvik. 16 seed in NCAA tournament (65/68 teams)
CAA - Charleston: 27-5, 16-2 in CAA play (1st, 1 seed). 101 NET, 123 Torvik. 14 seed in NCAA Tournament (55/68)
If Louisiana Tech won the CUSA title, their metrics would've aligned with those selected as 13 seeds. If any other team in the CAA won the conference tournament, they would have been a 16 in the play-in game.
