Yes I believe UD was to get about 400k, probably forked over about 100k for difference in Maine payout. UD will surely get more than all of this to play at Illinois I agree.BlueHenBill wrote: ↑Fri Jan 23, 2026 12:53 pmI guess that the higher amount that PSU is paying Maine vs. UD is that they just contracted with Maine to replace UD when the UD contract for 2023 & 2027 was signed in 2022 or early 2023. I am still assuming that UD is going to net significantly more money playing at Illinois even after compensating PSU for the higher amount PSU is paying Maine now vs. the earlier contracted amount to pay UD. Otherwise, it wouldn't appear to make sense for UD to cancel the PSU game to play at Illinois.bluehenbillk wrote: ↑Thu Jan 22, 2026 6:01 pmActually the reports out now lead to UD most likely led the cancellation as UD agreed to compensate PSU the difference in the guarantee PSU is paying Maine above what they were contracted to pay UDBlueHenBill wrote: ↑Wed Jan 21, 2026 5:45 pm Article by Tres about the UD FB schedule changes notes that the 2 games at PSU were scheduled when UD was in FCS. Estimated payout was $400K for 2023 game. UD got $750K for Colorado game which Tres states is likely now a bare minimum. So it wold seem that UD wouldn't come to PSU in 2027 without a substantially bigger payday that PSU wasn't willing to give to UD at this time.

UD to FBS. I never thought I’d see the day
Re: Schedule Updates
Does anyone know what Maine is getting? $500K?
Re: Schedule Updates
Yes, all economic decisions like a lot of other things in college athletics these days.

The original Penn State agreement was made in 2018, so I’m sure the cost of scheduling opponents has jumped in the last eight years.BlueHenBill wrote: ↑Fri Jan 23, 2026 12:53 pmI guess that the higher amount that PSU is paying Maine vs. UD is that they just contracted with Maine to replace UD when the UD contract for 2023 & 2027 was signed in 2022 or early 2023. Re: Schedule Updates
Is the 2026 CUSA schedule coming out this week? Haven’t heard an official date for the schedule but I believe it was released in the first week of February last year.
GO BIG BLUE!
Re: Schedule Updates
I would guess that we play the three we did not play in 2025 and five of the remaining eight teams. I also hope that they keep UD - Liberty as an annual game due to geography. (I could be wrong, but I believe UTEP and NM State played every year).

Re: Schedule Updates
Schedule may be delayed due to the La Tech departure controversy.
In order to avoid a bunch of criticism on the internet (long story).
They may "try" to wait till they have a settlement reached with La Tech---BUT if it drags on much longer (Courts)--they'll just have to go ahead and release it anyway.
Very frustrating.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner! LA Tech's pipe dream is clearly holding my travel plans hostage. It's simple; if wanna move on, pay the exit fee!topstraight wrote: ↑Tue Feb 03, 2026 6:52 pm Schedule may be delayed due to the La Tech departure controversy.

Re: Schedule Updates
The lawyers are involved and they don't care how long it takes. They are trying to negotiate a lower buy out. Billable hours
What are the current exit fees for schools leaving Conference USA?
The exit fee for schools leaving Conference USA is reported to be more than $5 million, which includes two years' worth of revenue distributions and the remaining years on the current grant of rights, up until 2028. The buyout figure is expected to land between $5 to $7.5 million.

Re: Schedule Updates
CUSA does not have "exit fees".
It's Two Years of conference revenues--withheld(and a lot of other details).
Approx. SIX Million in Tech's case.

Re: Schedule Updates
semantics This most recent article does use the term exit fees. This is where my comment comes from.
