Post by UD '01 grad »

Hens, at No. 78, above the following schools in final "re-rank" of season. Take it for what it's worth.

SEC: Kentucky, Auburn, Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas

ACC: Florida State, North Carolina, Stanford, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Boston College,

Big 10: Wisconsin, Michigan State, Maryland, UCLA, Purdue

Also of note:

Virginia: No. 15
Vanderbilt: No. 18
Wake Forest: No. 39
Western Kentucky: No. 52
Kennesaw: No. 53
Jacksonville State: No. 55
UConn: No. 58
Coastal Carolina: No. 101
Colorado: No. 111

BOLD is 2026 nonconference opponent.

Interesting that at #58 is UConn and # 67 is La Tech, who we beat, while we are at # 78!

Happy about the ranking but as we all know, any transfer or incoming freshman, will really be graded after they have contribution on the field.

We all know that these rankings mean nothing. But, I enjoy seeing them, and they are showing UD a level of respect.

I recently talked with a fellow fan, after the bowl win, that said "I just hope that we can compete at FBS".

LOL, we are competing!

Hens were No. 99 on The Athletic's final list, just above No. 100 Colorado and No. 101 FIU.

Syracuse, Boston College, Purdue and Oklahoma State were the other Power 4 teams ranked below them.

Hens were No. 128 on their preseason list.

Note: Missouri State finished No. 92 after a preseason rating of No. 131.

So I’m counting about 43 different polls that go into the Massey Composite Index

Delaware highest ranking is # 79 on the CONGROVE COMPUTER RANKINGS

https://www.collegefootballpoll.com/ran ... /week/100/

Our our lowest ranking is #122 on Draft Ratings

https://www.dratings.com/sports/ncaa-fb ... l-ratings/

On the Massey poll Delaware finished # 111

All of this means nothing other than we were 7-6
recruiting recruiting recruiting...It ain't rocket science....We need better more athletic players...That simple....

I don't know. Reflecting on Season One, I'm just happy we're in the FBS conversation and even more so that we're getting placed above teams who've been at this level for a few decades.

It certainly was the most interesting season in a long time

And although Delaware wasn’t playing at the FBS level before… Delaware has always been ranked higher than a lot of FBS teams, (Massey) and noticeably higher when Delaware is good.

Next year let’s see how high the CUSA champion could be ranked

Some historical Division 1 Massey rankings

2010 Delaware was ranked #75 on Massey
2007 # 90
2003 # 60 1AA champions

Bad years
2021 #168
2008 #135

Even during the bad FCS years the Hens finished higher than some FBS
