I gotta ask, what’s so interesting about it? Unless people went to fall ball scrimmages and practices, I don’t think much is known about this team with all the new faces offensively.

I just wasn’t expecting to see so many upperclassmen starting.

Mineo – Sophomore
Burroughs - Sophomore
Lambert - Senior
Bouldin - Senior
Cockrill - Senior
Wolf - Senior
Charles – Senior [Goldey transfer]
Davis – Junior [Transfer from Manhattan & only 8 games played last year]
Minckler - Junior

We have 18 fresh and soph. I thought we would have seen a few more of them to get them adjusted to the college game

I’m sure there will be a combination of lineups early on with all the new faces, but regardless of class, play your best players.

Davis I believe had a season ending injury.

oooof. Can understand the offense being a little slow out of the gates this time of year but walking 25 batters, hitting another 7 and making 7 errors in 3 games is not going to cut it.

WOW! What a rough weekend for the pitchers ....they definitely need to figure it out and fast.

The accolades about Sweeney lowering the ERA and fastball velocity increasing dont mean much when they walk that many batters.

Lowering ERA and increasing velo are more often not proportional at this level. Some posters have cited walks and HBP’s which support this. If a kid throws hard and locates chances are he’s a high D-1 kid.

After following these games for the past several years I would really like to know the difference between walks + hbp from our pitchers vs our opponents. It just seems like we are always giving free passes away at an alarming rate, especially compared to our opponents. Is there a reason for this?
