WBB
Picked 11th in the CUSA pre season poll. No all conference players. I know things came together a little bit once they got healthy last year, but still most likely a make or break year for Jenkins.

Re: WBB
the responses
indicate the extent to which this program under SJ has become insignificant. 3 years of dismal results and performance and empty seats. Why on Earth was no action taken to recreate at least a semblance of at least average respectability in respect to both fiscal as well as acceptable performance?
a follow up-I was checking my emails just now and found the daily UD sales pitch for school clothing. So I clicked and found unis for sale- one was a deep strong blue and gold(yeah) and the other was colonial blue and yellow. I laughed at the juxtaposition of these two pics and then found myself wondering WTF. I've been pointing this out for years with Adidas changing our school colors. If we are truly attempting to establish our UD BRAND on the FBS level, why didn't someone in our athletic administration or the BOT or the president simply sign a contract to retain our signature look????
I was one of the strongest voices demanding a change in our CAA, coaching retention, etc for years.
How about NOW as to our school colors
build the foundation and a solid structure will follow!

Few care about women's basketball. Still, it is sad that UD has hired some pretty uninspiring coaches since Tina's departure.
It's easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled.

Re: WBB
Tina Martin had one good year after Delle Donne graduated. The following three seasons which ended in Martin choosing to retire were mediocre. IMO Martin's biggest fault was her inability to capitalize on the success of the Delle Donne years. Martin was succeeded by Natasha Adair whose first 2 seasons were progress, her third season was poor, and then she had built the program so that her last 2 seasons at UD were very good with UD the CAA Champs & WNIT semi-finalist in 2020-21 and second in CAA & NCAA first round in 2021-2022. Adair was impressive enough that AZ State hired her away after the 2021-22 season. Adair was a failure at AZ St and was fired after 3 seasons there. IMO Adair is a common example of a HC that can succeed at a certain level but then fails on the bigger stage. Another example of this was Joyce Perry who was a fine UD Women's Basketball HC in the East Coast Conference but was mediocre in the North Atlantic Conf. Adair might have had a fine HC career if she had stayed at UD. IMO the mistake that UD made was mot to conduct a national search for the next Women's Basketball HC after Adair left instead choosing of choosing Sarah Jenkins without such a search. Jenkins had been an Assistant Coach & Recruiting Coordinator on Jenkins staff at UD for 3 seasons from 2017-18 thru 2019-2020 and was elevated to Associate HC & Recruiting Coordinator for 2002-2021. Reportedly everyone at UD involved with the Women's Basketball were impressed with her and she was well liked. Jenkins left UD to be an Assistant Coach at PSU. When AZ St hired Adair, Jenkins was deemed a "no brainer" selection to succeed Adair as UD HC with reportedly no consideration of other candidates. Jenkins 3 years as HC at UD have been poor. It remains to be seen whether or not Jenkins can turn the UD program around.

Not to disrespect, but it’s women’s basketball, against a D2 opponent, and the men were playing at the same time. I know you love to blast the athletic department any chance you get but not sure what you were expecting.

Why so sensitive? I stated the reasons for low attendance. Seems pretty adult to me.LifetimeHensFan wrote: ↑Tue Nov 04, 2025 12:18 amblasting the athletic department seems harshUdforever1 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 03, 2025 9:39 pmNot to disrespect, but it’s women’s basketball, against a D2 opponent, and the men were playing at the same time. Re: WBB
I know it was against a Division II opponent, but it was nice to get a dominant win to open the season. 10 players got to see action, 6 being new players to Delaware, and 2 seeing their first action as college players. This team does have some height with 5 players being over 6 feet and 11 players being 5’10” or taller.
WBB vs. Bloomsburg
We're not looking at a completely clean availability report, but this is the place to be for an "active roster" that looks more like the projections on paper as compared to MBB.
That's the case even as Ella Wanzer was out last night. I don't know what caused that, but one could hope it was on the precautionary side playing a non-DI opponent. The Blue Hens did not get Gianna Johnson back yet, either, which could create an interesting situation at center on Friday after Ande'a Cherisier had to exit with 6 min played vs. Bloom (took a fall to the upper body). Cherisier had 5 pts and 2 blocks in that limited time.
Acknowledging the foe, it was still good to see a trio of new faces start in the win. You had:
Lay Fantroy - 14 pts, 8 rebounds, 2 assists (24 min)
Kendall Scott - 11 pts, 3 rebounds, 1 assist (28 min)
Safi Kolliegbo - 6 pts, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and I'm adding mention of 3 steals here (27 min)
Off the bench, Trinity Vance and Kailah Correa combined for 26 pts.
Friday night vs. Navy will be Navy's season opener. There are a bunch of names back for Navy that I remember from last year's game in Annapolis. The Mids are the 2025-26 Patriot League preseason favorite and boast conference Preseason Player and Defensive Player of the Year Zanai Barnett-Gay.
Navy's win last season saw Barnett-Gay with 27 pts, 8 boards, and 6 assists. 6'4" center Kate Samson is back, returning me to the center conversation from earlier -- wouldn't be ideal to miss Cherisier and Johnson in this spot. Samson turned in 18 pts against Delaware last time (8-11 FG).
Hens could only play seven at Navy that night by my count. Hoping Wanzer can be good to go this week as I look back at her 4-8 3FG shooting for 14 pts vs. Navy '24. Delaware will definitely give the Mids a new look Friday personnel-wise.
Important DI home game before spending most of the month on the road, including at Sun Belt preseason No. 4 Old Dominion and Patriot preseason No. 3 Loyola MD.
CUSA WBB looks strong in its preseason top 4 of Louisiana Tech, Liberty, Middle Tennessee, Missouri State.
