Hard to believe the season is one week away.

Great breakdown by UDHoops in his latest article. Unfortunately, Houser out for the year.

Wow, that’s the lowest pre-season KenPom rating for us I can recall in quite a while! We were picked 5th in the CAA media poll but are just the 9th best team as noted by KenPom.

I did, but am probably one of the least knowledgeable basketball observers. FWIW, I liked what I saw of #7 Tahron Allen, the transfer from Wagner. He looked solid physically and aggressive and smart. I think we will like him.

I also liked the look of #5 the freshman, Macon Emory, younger brother of Houston Emory. That is all that I have for you.

Thanks Info. I heard the younger Emory played really well in the scrimmage against Temple.

I was there tonight and here are some initial observations:

Hard to believe that the injury bug has bit us yet again with Houser being out for the year after hip surgery, but what is a UD hoops season without some kind of injury/transfer to deal with??? I swear if this program didn't have bad luck we'd have no luck at all. Puts even more pressure on Moss, Camden, and others to pick up the slack under the boards. Not good news, for sure.

Speaking of Moss, he looked like he was moving well even wearing a pretty bulky knee brace. Hopefully he somehow can find a way to stay healthy after nearly 3 years of not playing competitive basketball. We will surely need positive contributions from Gabe if we hope to contend for a conference title.

The new big guy transfer (Kevin Kogbara) is built like an oak tree. Looks like he'd make a nice tackle for Carty and the boys... :D . Hard to tell how much of an impact he will have, but with Tyler being done for the year, I'm guessing we will need something out of him.

Timko can shoot the ball but looked really skinny...didn't appear to have a Division I body to me. Hopefully he'll be able to hold up against bigger/stronger competition in the CAA, but I do think he should be able to nail some 3's.

Lane is a competitor and really seems to be taking on more of a leadership position. We will need his defense for sure.

Tahron Allen should bring some experience and toughness...the guy looks like a man playing with boys from a pure build perspective.

The freshmen Izaiah Pasha and Macon Emory both look like they may be able to contribute...especially Pasha.

For what it's worth, I thought Kobe Jerome was the best player on the floor tonight. He was hitting threes and making good decisions. Still don't expect he'll have a huge role this season, but the kid can obviously shoot the ball so who knows.

Middleton didn't play at all as he is dealing with an ankle injury. In the post-practice press conference, Martin suggested that it's not too serious and they hope to have him back in time for the home opener against Bucknell next Monday.

John Camden had some flashes, and isn't afraid the shoot the ball. They will need him to help rebound and play defense in the post, but he doesn't look like he's built to withstand low post play.

Overall, this team seems to have good depth and will need to play fast and potentially outscore people to win. I'm fearful we will be in for another mediocre season, but maybe with more offensive firepower we'll be able to outscore teams. MI acknowledged in the post-practice press conference that we will need to get bigger and stronger to win in Conference USA.

We left before Martin's comments. Carty was there as well? Guess I left too soon, but Grain was beckoning for us.
Sorry...that was a typo that has since been corrected. Meant to say "MI acknowledged in the post-practice press conference..."

Great review Fin and I had the very much the same take-aways you noted when I was fortunate to see a practice before I headed back to Florida. What I saw of Middleton that day is he is a true point guard. He may be more of a situational player this year. I also came away that day with the thought Macon Emory looked like Carr towards the end of Carrs season here; the kids a weapon.

thanks Fin-wonderful ideal use of social media for positive(non ugly) discussion. I have no clue other than all I've read and researched on the new additions. we will know a bit soon.
Did the older Emory play and if so what position-hopefully a forward -not a 5.

The Brey Years...the Golden Age of UD basketball. For many schools the most pivotal decision that they must make is when a successful coach leaves and his replacement is chosen. We dropped the ball and never recovered.

Produce a great CAA team this year(Not a winning record season record but a championship). Otherwise I would tend to agree with Dove since my views have been amply stated in detail. seriously, wish it weren't so
