Women's Bball Roster?

Post by Hen78 »

I've been looking awhile now since someone pointed out the lack of a 2024-25 WBB Roster on the UDel site. I checked quite a few CAA teams sites and they have all been up for awhile.

Hopefully there is a simple explanation but the longer this goes on the more concern I have that it's not that simple...

FWIW here’s my stab at this year’s women’s hoop team roster. I have no inside the program info. This is based on social media, previous published info, and my guesses based on the bio material on bluehens.com

What we know.
1. Who’s gone
- Sconiers, no eligibility left.
- Howard, transferred to NC A&T
- Mays-Prince, transferred to Georgia Southern
- Yanogacio, transferred to LeMoyne

2. Who’s back
-Ojo
-Sundback
-Portalez
-Cherisier
-Boone
-Wilson

3. Who’s new
Gianna Johnson, first year
Trinity Vance, first year
Ella Wanzer, transfer in from Binghamton
Jiya Perry, transfer in from SMU

4. Who could be back. Honored on senior night but retains some eligibility.
-Cousins
-Demeke
-Reid

That is 13 scholarship players, 2 under the limit, if the
last three players listed return.

Hopefully the official roster will be updated soon.

thanks mpw- I viewed all the signings as well. Hope we haven't lost some of the newcomers. I thought a few of the returnees had transferred or run out of eligibility. I just checked the official roster-NADA! classes are beginning today??
We certainly need help to upgrade the team's performance.

Classes began last Tuesday.

Roster is up on bluehens.com.
Only player missing from my previous post is Reid. But they added Alieghya Bartholomew from Toronto.
A transfer from Gulf Coast State.

Oh and TH you frequently seem concerned about losing newcomers. Though anything may happen, once the first years and transfers sign they are locked in unless released from their commitment by UD.
Or the transfer portal window is open and the player chooses that route.

thanks MPW- i was aware of the rules but yes -concerned that some of the previously committed might not be wearing blue and yellow? or is it black and ? select a color
It appears the old guard are returning for another campaign. That surprises me in that the last years have been cruel on these ladies  , but they get a free ride for their education. Not a bad deal!

with the season less than 2 months away and fall session ongoing, I assume our roster is finalized as posted. I wonder if SJ can actually take time from her busy schedule to post pictures of the new players on the official site? I assume they are practicing so it shouldn't be an issue to set up the photos and complete the task in few minutes. No worries- just want to familiarize the new faces and their numbers.

Wondering if Ojo is healthy after only appearing in 3 games last season. We'll need her producing inside the paint.
Cherisier scored well last year but had foul trouble issues limiting her pt. Actually the new 6'5"freshmen Johnson will be counted on to assist in the paint along with Wilson.

The issues this 3rd year that must be cleaned up are the same one we've suffered from under SJ's tenure= TOs, accumulating fouls both on O and D, and slowing down the tempo (the cause of many of the TOs). If that can be mitigated/remedied, we'll most certainly turn the corner and enjoy a fun season. Here's hoping.

You realize there’s an entire SID that handles posting photos and stuff, not the head coach, right?

You sound just like our former poster Henzone with nitpicking putdowns. If I'm the head coach, I visit the SID's office and arrange a picture taking. I want to utilize all aspects of social media to sell tickets, fill the Bob, and pump my guys up. The kids like seeing their photos and stories about the team.
I arranged team/individual photos every year with all my teams. The parents love seeing their kids and passing out the photos to relatives.
Obviously you disagree- so be it!

Middle school and college is much different. I’m sure having some photos up in September compared to say October is really going to move the needle for tickets.

Sorry you always feel attacked anytime someone calls out your nonsense, which lately sure seems to be a lot.

wrong- i could just blow off your dart, but my daddy told me to stand up for what's right. that's what democracy stands for-right? My post even stated-NO WORRIES- but

why is it that an insignificant few of you guys feel the need to take personal jabs at people. insecurity? The moment a gohens fan questions something UD, you troll in. I know you are invested in this site and appreciate your status, but come on man!!
just let it go. focus on appreciating UD, but realizing the dept and staff are not omnipotent. I accept valid criticism and always post back on a mistake I have made with a "MY BAD"- just let it go

let's take no prisoners this afternoon at NCA&T

Not going to flood this thread with our nonsense, so this will be my final post. Insecurity is throwing a fit anytime someone disagrees with you, which is what you do every single time.

But yeahhhh, you must be crazy if you think I put the athletic department and university on a pedestal.

Why is it TennTroll ask the same question every fall, yet fails to remember the answer he gets each year? Asking for a friend.

no surprise- even the middle school reference which is incorrect as you know. trolls rule  - I'm waiting for the next one to jump in and support his invested buddies. JD- you just joined the club- I expect another troll or two to join the party. Of course they will be the "usual suspects"

BTW- ESPN is back on directv - Whoo Hoo good for us who haven't shed cable yet. I plan to say bye to cable and go complete streaming. A new 65"-75" top of the line Sony is about ready to hang up replacing my 56" Panasonic plasma which still produces an awesome picture. It isn't a smart **** like the new one will be. :D Due to stiff competition the prices are ridiculously low and will actually be energy efficient compared to the plasma heat release. 8)
