Good article in the News Journal by Tres. He mentions transfers that are having a good spring.

Time is now as Blue Hens' defense preps for 2024 and 2025 FBS move to FBS.

Delaware has already added those types of players that are good fits for the 3-3-5 defense with some of its recent transfers such as safety Jason Scott (Boston College) and cornerback Nate Evans (North Carolina State).

“Both Jason Scott and Nate Evans have been able to come in here and learned our defense pretty quickly,” Rojas said of players who were in similar schemes at their previous schools. Another who has quickly earned coaches’ praise is linebacker Blake Matthews, a transfer from Troy.

Playing the 3-3-5 again. Better upgrade the play (or players) on the D-line...........

Rojas is committed to the 3-3-5.

He will not change.

Yes, he is committed to it. Yes, the D had good statistics last season, but when the rubber hit the road against better opponents they came up mediocre (at best). My feeling at the end of the season was that the system had to change, players stepped up or new recruits/transfers came in, or the coach should move on. Only the second option appears open to UD now. Hopefully it happens.

You know what the rest of us know: the 3-3-5/3-2-6 doesn’t work without big, talented DLs and an agressive plan to make the QB uncomfortable.

Unfortunately, against good teams, we get blown off the line and QBs are allowed to eat a sandwich…

As BlueHenBobby said…Rojas enjoys the stats from playing against lesser teams.

If you have an IPhone you can access it through the Reader - you don’t need a subscription.

Plus, the cost to subscribe is "peanuts". Thanks, 72, for posting.

Yeah, the Rocco and Carty regimes use the same excuse for not playing the 3-4 or the 3-3-5 - hard to get enough talented DL. Yet many FCS programs manage to do so. I thought that with the move to the FBS, that excuse would be put to bed. The other rationale for the 3-4/3-3-5 is that today's passing game requires it. Yet many FCS, FBS, and pro teams have fine defenses in today's passing era with the 4-3 which among other things can generate more consistent pressure on the QB with the DL.

Tres is the one who posted the link. He sent me a PM saying he hopes that when people check out the link they will subscribe. IMO, the cost is very little and worth it for some good information.

Not trying to be a wise guy, but if there were a way to subscribe to KT’s stuff, but not to the Gannett junk, then I might consider doing that.

On the other hand, didn’t Gannett just drop the AP? Maybe they will go back to hiring more local writers for each market (one can always hope).

99% of what I read is the sports page and the cost of the subscription is well worth it.
