UDEL Fear the Bird wrote: Mon Jan 01, 2024 1:23 pm Very excited for the FBS move and getting some higher level competition into Newark. I’m in my mid 30s and live in South Central PA but have not been to a football game in Newark since 2019. I had lost interest in UD football over the years with all of the changes in CAA membership which has led to a much lower quality of play. Now that we are going FBS I plan on getting football season tickets every year. Excited to see if we can get Navy and Temple to the Tub regularly for non conference games. I was also a bball season ticket holder in the past and plan on getting bball season tickets again now too.
Thanks for posting this, which relates to the original thread. Good to hear.

The constant rehash of what happened in the past, and what went wrong, are the most over posted comments of all time. Everyone knows that crap.

Eyes forward.

The future is unknown, but it is good to be expectant and hopeful. Certainly so on the start of a New Year!

Some prefer to dwell in the past and be miserable.

Go Hens!

sure is good to be hopeful but it seems you are getting realists and miserable people confused because they speak the truth.

Our future is bright, despite some folks repeatedly bashing Carty and our recent success.

Perspective. No sense in being a snob…our past was checkered with some successes and some failures. UD has always seemed a step behind, but eventually we found a way to make it work whenever we moved to a new sub-division or conference.

Looking forward to a much better schedule as part of our new adventure. 👍
Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS

Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

well said, dont think anybody on this site want the Hens to fail but are quickly scolded for opinions ..... speaking of opinions, i applaud RC for his short head coaching career, however, the step up aint no joke and hopefully he will relinquish some of his duties (OC) and let others have some control. it takes an army

Opinions welcomed.

Constant reference to decisions made by past administrations that are LONG GONE, are pointless.

That's an opinion by me.

I'm 100% for it but if you are questioning exactly what it will be like then the window dressing you get on here does not change what's really in store. Our buds on here wouldn't change course if we moved to D3 and I do respect that. My concerns:

We do not have a head coach & staff who has proven anything other then they are better then the unacceptable before them.

We do not have a FCS team that has beaten anyone with much talent.

We will have a stadium , for the immediate future, that will be in the smallest 5 in our division.

A trip to Colorado might be a fun weekend but aside from the usual handful of STH's who would bus to Anchorage, the others will vanish when Kennesaw shows on a weekday. Maybe even catch the game on TV.

My hope is that the JMU & Liberty trail is a hoot and we can somehow pick up the pace behind them even though we have shown no signs of doing so.

We're all faced with some tough decisions and everyone entitled to their opinions but it's going to be a rough few years from where I sit ( or don't )
Thank you for your post. When I "returned" to UD football games in person about 2008, I was coming back to enjoy the atmosphere which was similar to when I attended Delaware. Even with that it was a steep learning curve to understand where Delaware and FCS football were at that point. Came back in time for the UD self induced "lost decade". While a lot had changed a lot remained the same. Clearly the next few years are going to encompass massive changes. The 2024 schedule will be "limbo" and after that we will start to get real answers to the questions about the move up. We'll see. One thing I'm also waiting to see that I failed to mention earlier is when and how big the price increases for seats and parking will be. I'm betting that by 2026 my seats will be $50 each (or higher) and my parking will be at least double what I pay now hitting $200 a game. While the need for the move up is apparent there is a lot to consider for continuing to be a STH. As for 2024 UD better show big improvement and beat the top teams in the CAA..........

Just buy a drone with a good battery and camera and hover it 500ft. above the liquor store across the street from the stadium. That should get you a view of the game. The drone will pay for itself quickly with ticket savings and parking savings. 👍

My parking for the Lafayette playoff game was $147. My regular season parking was $100 per game. $200 in 2026 is not a stretch.

BHB, with all due respect, didn’t we go over this when you copy and pasted your account? Your tickets were $147, parking was still $100 with a $7 service charge for $107.
