I’m surprised they’re still playing on a Sunday. Didn’t they say they were changing this? Is it only for future games I’m assuming?

IMO, playing the FCS championship and the FBS championship on the same weekend is smart branding, better for FCS branding and it allows more FCS fans to attend, versus the old FCS championship Saturday. The old FCS championship Saturday was too close to Christmas and really expensive if you had to fly with only 4-5 days notice. Just ask Montana fans which they prefer.
That said, going up against the NFL is just plain stupid. Keeping it at 1pm on Saturday makes a lot more sense to me. Let’s hope the NCAA / ABC / ESPN sees some dismal ratings tomorrow and reverses their decision next year.
