Rhode Island Sat 430

Post by DaveB »

Hens are set to play in NY against URI.

URI is 5-5 with no real signature wins although they have played a solid schedule. Yale is probably their best win. Lost to Brown at home as well as on road last Sunday to Charleston. Losses to Northwestern, Washington St and Providence as well.

They have pretty good size with Fr. David Fuchs 6'9 245 avg 7 and 7, Jr. Jospeh Bilau 6'10 235 avg 4 and 6 and Fr. Jeremy Foumena 6'11 235 avg 6.6 and 4.8.

They are led by guards Jaden House 6'4 205 avg 14.6 and Zeke Montgomery 6'6 210 avg 13.6.

Neutral court but I am guessing the Hens will open as a slight dog. Initially I was not able to attend but now planning to head up with my son.

Early line has Hens -3.5

From what I have read, it sound slike URI is going to not play Green to be safe from future penalty. Also sounds like freshman big fuchs, 6'9 245 avg 7 pts and 7 boards might be in concussion protocol.

At risk of being a broken record but do we finally get Bethea on the court? He is that other shooter this team needs.

If I’m reading this right, and big if, sounds like he’d be eligible to play now without fear of retaliation.

Thought that was part of the deal. No penalty for playing under the court order.
Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS

Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

There was supposed to be another hearing in two weeks. I believe the NCAA came out and said that if the temporary restraining order ended in two weeks, guys could lose the year of eligibility if they played. Whole thing is a mess.

Again…thought that stuff was addressed in the court ruling. No penalty for playing.

Lawyers are going to have fun with this.

An ugly basketball game. Towson has zero ability to hit a perimeter shot. Turnovers, fouls, bad refs, bad shooting. Thank god there is a bar here open.

Hens warming up. Bethea not dressed. Oh well

Hens up 9 at half. Would be nice to get Bethea back as another option from outside. 2/12 from 3. Last year we’d be down 9 at half if that was the case. This year able to overcome that.

Another nice win. Davis was excellent. Take care of business against Rider this week, enjoy Christmas and then a tough one against Princeton before CAA starts.

Hens beat an A10 team by 11, hold them under 60 points and shoot 89% on free throws. No complaints here.
