They have our number and it lies within the coaching staffs

They know it, we know it and it shows

This year they have a good team, but several years they weren’t better than us until they played us … Carty needs to totally re invent the wheel or nothing will change
,
From 2016 to the end of 2023, excluding the 2020 COVID season, Nova has lost to: JMU 4 times, W&M/Richmond 3, Albany, Stony Brook, Towson, New Hampshire twice, R.I., Elon, Maine and Monmouth once and UD ZERO times. How is that possible?
In my opinion if we continue to play them the only chance we have of beating Nova, as was mentioned earlier, is to dissolve the rivalry. Play them ever couple of years as we do with other CAA teams.

If you loose every time you play a team; is it really a rivalry ?

So, apparently the rivalry has already been dissolved!
It sure isn't!!!! I see all the music heads don't react when it's not some stupid Billy Joel tune.

"The Day the Rivalry Died, Bye Bye Miss........"

LOL What I watched Saturday, was not good on either side of the ball.

Did close to that during the Popes Philly visit.

Lost that one too, but at least we didn’t have to wait all season.

Not sure about any Music analogies but while disappointed in our loss certainly not embarrassed or distraught. Having to play our 3rd string 18 year old FR QB mid 2Q against the best FCS team we played im keeping it in perspective. We had 202 yds of Offense at HALF and it was still close. Disappointed we couldn't respond better with the lost starters. I'm interested to see how Minicucci does Saturday with all the primary reps this week

I am in the same boat HJ. Playing with a third string, inexperienced freshman QB thrown into a close game is tough especially against a very good team. The Hens are playing a team they are better than this week and the kid has had a full weeks of first team reps. I am expecting at least a decent QB performance and a mostly stress free win.

You're entitled to your opinion I was simply offering mine. The thread title was Embarrassed and Distraught and im not in that camp. The complexion of the game would have been much different if Marker played and our Offense was more productive. We actually had more yardage at Half. Not saying we'd have won. Villanova was very good

It's not easy to go back in time and check out spreads on 1-AA games; but I suspect if we were to go back 20 years and re-engineer those lines, we'd find that - on the computer at least - Delaware and Villanova have been very, very close to even. UD has probably been favored six or seven times, the Cats the rest (and I think there may have been a pick'em or two in there), and yet, Villanova essentially won them all. Different coaching staffs, different philosophies, different venues. None of that mattered. I've been living essentially the same "rivalry" hell with my alma mater and VPI. The difference there. though, is that they've been demonstrably better than us over that span. UVa may have been favored 2 or 3 times in 15 years, and the results have gone as expected. If you look at VU/UD season results side-by-side over the past decade, there would be no reason to conclude that Villanova is "better" than Delaware, except during the last game of the season, where they are often MUCH better. it's all very odd.

When I heard that Minicucci was not part of the Villanova game plan I was surprised. When you look at the season and the oft injured starting qbs for UD you would think Minicucci would get an extra look and not be completely baffled leading the offense. Another coaching error?

The two QBs, Marker and O’Connor, are going to get the majority of reps in practice during a game week, as they should. I wouldn’t say Minicucci was baffled, he just hadn’t physically repped the majority of the plays in the game plan. Only have so much time to prep.

No not another Coaching error. Geez. Remember this isn't Pro Football where guys can practice as much as they want. You only have so many hours to be practicing and can't possibly game plan around 3 deep QBs. It's common sense. If we split all the practice reps up between 3-4 QBs the primary guys who play the vast majority of the plays/games would not be ready and you'd be telling us the Coach made an error for that.

Minicicci and I were doing extra practice reps the other day. My neighbor’s golden retriever was doing the long out patterns and we had a border collie doing the intermediate crossing patterns. Two large mastiffs waited 3 seconds before being freed to go after Minucci (spell check really is putting up a fight).

The good news is that Minu has developed a pretty quick release. On the other hand, we’re trying to access the impact rabies shots and a few bandages will have on his playing ability.

Stay tuned.
