There are high hopes for Graeber, the JUCO national player of the year last year, but he hasn’t lived up to the billing yet. Dengler might be able to help, but he has been out for a few weeks since he went down with an injury running to first base. Meanwhile, Owen Petrich, who transferred after being on the bench here last year, is regularly batting cleanup for St. Joe’s.
If kids arent hitting, why not bench them? Give other guys a shot and spark the offense

Even though it’s still good for Rutgers to get back on the football schedule.

Yikes. And the Hens scored 6 in the bottom of the 9th to even make it 27-13. Getting beat by Rutgers is one thing, especially after struggling with the likes of Lehigh and Lafayette. But giving up 42 runs in two games ……. Phew!

From afar, as in not seeing them play and just looking at box scores, it is pretty obvious again that the Hens have little pitching. Also, it looks like it is time to take August out of the starting rotation and try to get him settled pitching an inning or at a time out of the pen.

And UD got rid of Sherman because he was an offense first coach ……..

Regionally it is starting to look like collegiate baseball is becoming an afterthought.

Our pitching staff seems to have an inability to get people out.

I was chatting with a scout for the Detroit Tigers, today. Asked him if we'd ever see a guy like Greg Maddox again (someone who didn't throw 90-100mph, but could paint the corners).

Nope. Management doesn't want to see that type of pitcher.

Maybe in 5-7 years, after everyone gets tired of all the power pitchers throwing ball after ball and not being able to hit the plate in tight situations. Hello, Phillies.

Who knows, maybe players are able to consistently hit the slower pitchers, so everyone has to keep looking for the +100mph flame throwers, no matter how inaccurate they get?

On the way home, the guys on WIP were lamenting the fact that no one throws a complete game anymore...and we had a starter win a Cy Young despite having thrown on average for fewer than six innings per game.

Sheesh. Dude is earning millions to pitch just over half a game...every 3rd or 4th game.

Anyway, was looking up Greg Maddox and found this site...fun stats about the Maddox way of pitching:

Yikes, 56 runs given up to Rutgers in the three game series. That must be some sort of record.

Feel bad for the players-tough weekend- Rutgers collected 64 hits and 18 BB along with 11 hit batter-over 100 runners-

Hens pitchers also were challenged by Georgetown this past Wednesday- 10 hits, 11 BB with 4 hit batters

Can only go up from here-

Rough start.

Looking beyond 2024 and '25, how favorably does the group think the Hens will be able to compete with CUSA schools? About the same as in the Coastal? Maybe a little steeper challenge?

The conferences are very similar. CAA finished 7th in conference RPI last year, Conf USA 8th. Both conferences have changed a bit, obviously with the departures and additions in CUSA, and the CAA for the better as they added top 25 program Campbell.

Speaking of the Camels, the Hens have them this weekend. They currently sit #21 in the latest poll.

Man if we are getting rocked by the likes of Rutgers and G-Town, it will be ugly in the CUSA.

Is it time to find a new leader to get us back to greatness of the 90s & early 2000s

What a complete overreaction. Yes, let’s get rid of a guy who’s been here a year and change and took over a program that hadn’t been to even the CAA tournament since 2017. Makes complete sense!
