Goldey Beacom

Post by Udforever1 »

Hens return to action tonight against D2 Goldey Beacom. One of those weird games where it counts for UD but is an exhibition for Goldey. Would say that this is hopefully a game we’d be able to go deep down the bench but I’d imagine Emory and Moss are still out.

Goldey player to watch is Nazim Derry, who was first team all CACC two years ago, then transferred to New Hampshire, then transferred back to Goldey.

Another one to watch is Zayon Marsh, 6’6 F. Avg 18 and 10 last year. Entered the transfer portal this summer, had some interest including Charleston, but came back to Goldey.

A few D1 schools have lost to lower level teams this year.

Hens should win by 50. How are D1 schools allowed to play D3 schools? This is a scrimmage. Would rather schedule Del State at least they are D1.

We have consistently scheduled a “local” lower division team over the past 8 years.
Goldey
Wilmington (DE)
Salem
Chestnut Hill
Wesley
Bridgewater ( not local)

And it’s not like we’re the only team playing one. Practically every team in the CAA plays at least one.

Campbell- 3
Charleston- 1
Hofstra- 1
UNCW- 3
W&M- 2
Drexel- 1
Elon- 2
Hampton- 2
Stony- 1
Towson- 1

It’s a buy game. It is what it is. Not like UD is the only team doing it.

Having three front court guys missing definitely hurts regardless of who we’re playing. Houser with 3 fouls, Ray with 2. Like the way Trent drives the ball. If Jerome can shoot and move the ball like that off the bench throughout the season, we’ll have one of best backup PGs in the conference. Looks like a version of his older brother Ty

I believe I saw Gabe Moss walking off the court at halftime with Houston Emory. It appeared Moss was dramatically dragging his left leg which would suggest he may not be available this season for quite a while. That might be an issue with our thin #5 position.

I just read the bio on Kobe Jerome who has been swishing the twine nicely on his 3s tonight. His brother Ty is a former UVA player now in the NBA. If this kid can shoot this consistently, he may be a major asset.

No live stats page to follow on bluehens.com. No score on CBS Sports website.

It's like the game is being played in a black hole somewhere.
