CAA 2023-24 Scores and Storylines

Dave inspired me with his recap of our season's opponents in the Bucknell thread so I wanted to make a thread designed to just track how our conference looks throughout the year in one spot.
11/06 Scoreboard and Recap:
Hofstra easily beats Division 3 St. Joseph's (NY) 101-48. Preseason 1st-team All-CAA Tyler Thomas with 26 points in 19 minutes. Five guys in double digit scoring, all 10 rotation guys with at least 16 minutes. Good night to let everyone play.
Charleston sneaks away with a victory against another strong mid-major Iona at home 71-69. Really solid back-and-forth game in the second half with Ante Brzovic, another preseason first-teamer, with a clutch basket late. Stony Brook transfer Frankie Policelli had 15 and 8 boards as well. Interesting to see Brzovic come off the bench for them, even though he only averaged 19 MPG last season. Will be a strong team with depth once again and will stay that way with a great coach and recruiter Pat Kelsey who I can't see staying there for much longer.
Monmouth held in there on the road with a solid A10 program in George Mason, but the Patriots pulled away in the second half and won 72-61. Coach King Rice's son Xander transferred in from Bucknell (they missed him last night) and led the team with scoring with 21. Wing Jack Collins had 17 shooting 4-5 from 3.
Hampton lost to the MEAC champions Howard 92-80. Not much defense here, St Francis transfer Tedrick Wilcox Jr. went 6-6 from 3 and scored 24. Star Jordan Nesbitt didn't play in this one and I couldn't find why.
Monte Ross took a beating in his first game at NC A&T with a 100-52 loss at Pittsburgh. Junior guard Kyle Duke had 15 in 29 minutes off the bench. Noteworthy JUCO transfer Landon Glasper shot 1-16, 0-12 from 3 in this one.
UNC Wilmington beat D2 Mt. Olive 105-66. As expected in this one... Preseason 1st teamer Trazarien White led the way with 23.
Towson lost 75-57 in Boulder but like Dave said, Colorado is going to be very good this year with not losing too much and adding top 5 nationally ranked recruit Cody Williams into the mix. Preseason first teamer big man Charles Thompson had 13 points with redshirt freshman Dylan Williamson scoring 15 off the bench.
William @ Mary eases by Regent University of the NCCAA 84-29. South Florida transfer Trey Moss had 12, Florida A&M transfer Sean Houpt had 10, but returner Gabe Dorsey led the way with them at 18.
Campbell handles Navy 59-48 led by returning guards Mokseckas Gediminas and Anthony Dell'Orso who scored 16 and 14 respectively. The Camels got ahead early and didn't turn back.
Northeastern wins the Battle for Boston with a win over... Boston U with a score of 67-58. Harvard wing transfer Luka Sakota scored 17 in his debut, with Chris Doherty earning a double-double with 15 and 10 boards. Sakota will look to help fill the scoring missing from Telfort transferring for Bill Coen's squad in his 18th season with the school.
Once ahead in the game 36-15, Elon loses the gas pedal and can't control the brake in a 101-78 loss at Wake Forest. Andrew Carr with 24 points, 9 boards (4 on the offensive glass), and 4 blocks. Wake's starters scored 93 of their 101 points... while Elon finds 41 of its 78 points from four of its additions from the offseason. A young team saw two true freshmen and last season's CAA Rookie of the Year Max Mackinnon start... and they battled against a solid ACC team who looks to make the tournament this year.
Drexel kicks off its season on the road in a battle of Philly at La Salle and stands as 2.5 point favorites. Curious to see how strong they look with not losing anyone to the portal and La Salle being one of the weakest in the A10. Stony Brook will get the national televised spotlight as they open on the road tonight as 18.5 point underdogs at Rick Pitino's first ever game for St. John's. Another game I'm excited to follow and I'm happy to see CAA teams take these opportunities to play in atmospheres like these early in the season.
