Watched the Duquesne-Coastal highlights. Duquesne can't tackle or throw the ball effectively. Aside from that, they should give the Hens trouble.

As I said in another thread, the dukes gave up TD runs of 71 and 90 yards against LIU. We should run for 300+ yards this week if we just stick to handing the ball to Yarns and Cumby.

As the schedule progresses we'll get to see if Ryan adjusts to what DOES works as opposed to his predetermined seasonal game plan. I'm hoping the run/pass ratio will be whatever it needs to be to win.

This is basically a practice game. Winning is almost a given. The Hens could probably pass 50 times or 10 times and still win by 30 points or likely even more. The Hens should work on what it will take to make the team better and beat a better team. And that includes throwing a lot. O’Conner still only has played a handful of games and his backup (sans Marker) has almost no experience. So expect a lot of passing.

Definitely get our young backup QB's experience in throwing the ball. Which also leads to open lanes for our RB's, and potentially fewer hits on the RB's. I'm starting to "get" this. :D

Energy and excitement is back.

You may see Marker back this week. I'm more concerned about the overall growth of the team rather then a specific position . I hope everyone gets a shot Saturday though. O'Connor is doing an exceptional job for a newbie. #3 has experience, that's why he's here. I don't believe we were ever going to have 2 qb's. Yarns has 1/3 of the carries that Monmouth's Shirden has in comparison . The OL is growing and they need to move the ball by land and by air, whatever works. Not being critical just being realistic that flexibility will be important in Ryan's growth.

Would be nice to have a healthy and fresh Marcus Yarns going into November. It’s tempting to increase the workload for a talent like Yarns but just saying if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Will be interesting to me if they use some other RBs really early if opportunities present and Duquesne is that opportunity
recruiting recruiting recruiting...It ain't rocket science....We need better more athletic players...That simple....

Yarns is averaging 10 carries a game and just had a week off. He will be fresh in November even if they increase his workload 50% and he doesn't get injured. He has to have at least 15 cpg or we might see him in the transfer portal.

Personally I don't really care if he starts the 3rd team and they play the entire game if we win. I'm pleased with the early wins but still have concerns , not complaints moving forward....

How many 1st quarter points do we have ? Why does a team "always juiced" have such a difficult time early in the game?

Why are we so weak in the red zone and on special teams?

I'd like to see a super start on both sides of the ball and the backups play the entire last quarter. That's my game plan.

I'm most concerned about the Special Teams. It's glaring to me with simple but fixable items like Center snaps, both A gap and flank rushes and not staying in lanes on returns. I'm hoping it was a point of emphasis on Bye week

If Marker is back, I’d let him get the majority of reps as the backup in garbage time and like 79 said, let it rip. He needs all the reps and experience he can get.

Great points on the special teams HJ.

Players make mistakes on every team. Coaching questions:

Why we kicked directly in the air to one of the best k/o return men in the country.

Why we punted on 4th down at the end of the UNH game with the best short yardage runner in the CAA available.

Why we immediately downed the ball on that last play instead of taking a few more seconds off the clock.

Why are we last in Punt returns in the CAA?

There's more but as you suggest, it's a glaring problem.

Well said. I firmly believe that as goes the OL, so goes the remainder of the '23 season.
