Hmmmm…someone thinks they are smarter than the people paid to do the job.
Can’t make this stuff up.

Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS
Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

For sure you guys can bitch, whine and complain all you want. Some of you do what you do, especially on this topic. And some of you do it thinking you are the smartest guys around.Section J wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 9:16 amIt's not true that they haven't listened. When they got feedback last season about the volume one week, the next week it was at a more reasonable volume.Hens79 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 26, 2023 9:41 pm Many, including younger folks, especially the students like it. Period. Full stop guys. Just because they aren’t on here to tell you, and read this yearly, incessant whining doesn’t mean they aren’t there. UD has heard the bitching for some of the oldsters here since they started the piped in music and they haven’t listened to you, and they aren’t. UD does plenty of surveys to get a feel for what fans like. And also, they haven’t listened to those who gripe about the “Black national anthem” either. A sure sign you are getting old and out of touch is when people start ignoring your griping. With all that said, there is always room for improvement. A little more in game band participation would be nice but it hasn’t happened in decades.
Surveys are terrible tools to get an accurate assessment of any issue.
I don't object to the piped-in music, it's the volume, timing, and context that makes it unappealing. In other stadiums I've visited, it's done quite well.
UD should be cautious about who they are trying to appeal to with the game day experience. If they are organizing themselves around the students thinking it will attract more of them to the games, well, we shall see how that will work out moving forward. What we usually see is they show up for the first and maybe second home games and are masquerading as empty seats for the duration of the season.
I'm pretty sure my lengthy duration as a season ticket holder and contributor over the years authorizes me to bitch, whine & complain all I like. After all, it is MY gameday experience too.
And ok, UD barely listened if it makes you feel better than being ignored.
The older some folks get the more they seem to lose a grip on reality or think their reality is the only one that matters. The gohens demographic is especially prone to it.
Show these threads to your 20-30 something kids or your teenage kids and grand children and they will likely just be polite, shake their heads and chuckle.

Re: Poll: In-Game Stadium Experience
Even babes in their cradles know that maybe second- and third-downs WHEN THE HOME TEAM HAS THE BALL don't need pumped-in musical interludes while signals are being relayed, etc.
I'm all for the band playing after first downs are gained, like most schools do. The poor Section J trumpeter probably didn't regain his lung capacity until midweek due to all the makeup noise he was attempting to make while full band was MIA during the third quarter.
Also, when opponents are dancing to Hens-provided music in the second quarter while up 18 points, it's probably a sign the musical plans (for that night at least) need to be curtailed. It's almost an invitation to stomp on the logo afterwards.
This poll (authored by someone who is not AARP eligible BTW) has accomplished what it set out to do. Clearly there's a house divided. We all agree Just Win. Hopefully, we can all agree about being smart while we do it.

Agree and also not of the “elder” “seasoned” “grumpy” “opposed to change “ generation.UD '01 grad wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 10:33 am Even babes in their cradles know that maybe second- and third-downs WHEN THE HOME TEAM HAS THE BALL don't need pumped-in musical interludes while signals are being relayed, etc.

Funny, I bring 2 20-30-year-olds with me to the game and they think it's poorly done as well, so there's that.

yes, im old and it reminds me of a circus, 3 hrs of constant entertainment, old days with the game being the entertainment and band being the center of attention during breaks are over.

True dat. The drumline is better than any of the other performances. Well, we did have the tubas play in front of us so that’s cool too. The East Stands are where it’s at. On the south side at half time, there was a long line of students to get free shirts with Hawaiian design and UDee cartoon character logo mixed in.
And I agree with GF and others, the old entry under the home stands of the band playing the Fight Song was priceless. Goose bumps priceless.

Section J,
Thanks for posting these great memories of some of our tailgates past and the wonderful young band members who, after all these years, appear to appreciate the history of this unique relationship almost as much as we do. I am pretty sure we will see some Tuba alums at Homecoming as we almost always have in the past.

SEC J, they were great videos. Thanks for sharing. The band has always been a big part of the UD Football experience. I will never forget the sight and excitement of seeing the UD Band marching down the Boardwalk in Atlantic City before the Boardwalk Bowls. Juiced us up....Thanks for sharing.

One thing for sure - keep the Dance Team performances.
And how does everyone like the new on field clock for stoppages? They kind of depress me when I look down and see a “long time” again to restart (and hear loud music). Not sure what real value the change brings to fans.

That’s a new CAA thing, not just UD thing.77HEN wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 12:10 pm One thing for sure - keep the Dance Team performances.

Yes, I know. Actually, I believe it’s an NCAA thing. Was asking what folks thought of it.Udforever1 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 12:18 pmThat’s a new CAA thing, not just UD thing.77HEN wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 12:10 pm One thing for sure - keep the Dance Team performances.

Not sure what that means but the original premise was that the younginz would find the "entertainment" hip & cool.Caribbean Hen wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 1:13 pmLike father like son and that goes for both of you

Yes, it takes less than 2 minutes to get from Section J to the pee wall and back during a sparsely attended game, even timed myself77HEN wrote: ↑Wed Sep 27, 2023 12:10 pm One thing for sure - keep the Dance Team performances.
