UNH
This is by far the biggest game and time to get some discussion going. UNH got it done on the ground last week against Dartmouth and their biggest weapon is the jack of all trades. Dylan "Jiffy" Laube.

Re: UNH
This definitely feels like one of the biggest home games in a quite a while. We all want affirmation that UD Football is "back" to excellence, and this is an opportunity to show it.
Hopefully, rain or not, the fans show up and make it uncomfortable for the Wildcats.

Re: UNH
“Every game, especially at home, should be an emotional game,” Carty said after the SFU win. “I don’t care who you’re playing. And that’s what we need to get across to our team and our fans and everybody that wants to come in here and play us because this is a place where you’re gonna have to fight for four quarters if you wanna come get a win in Delaware Stadium.”
Great article as usual, Dan. I heard this in the post game presser and got the juices flowing a bit. Refreshing to hear and we need to get back to this. But, actions do speak louder than words. A win this weekend would go a long way. I hope the rain stays away and for the first time in a long time, Delaware Stadium needs to be loud.

Re: UNH
It indeed should be an emotional game but it starts with the players not the fans. The Navy game will go down in history as something special simply because of the FCS status but after that win I haven't seen the energy or execution I was expecting against the better teams. Ryan spent more time at UNH then anywhere else in his career so he has to be excited. His ability to transfer his excitement over to his team and put together a successful game plan is why he was hired. We need this win!Udforever1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 9:58 am “Every game, especially at home, should be an emotional game,” Carty said after the SFU win. “I don’t care who you’re playing. Re: UNH
Correct, wasn’t saying it started with the fans. It always starts with the players. Like Carty said yesterday, he shouldn’t have to talk too much about UNH and the program they have. A top 15 team coming into Delaware stadium should be enough motivation.Henzone wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 10:18 amIt indeed should be an emotional game but it starts with the players not the fans. Re: UNH
Another outstanding article Dan. I think it took more than a second for the staff to figure it out, more like a full quarter. I don’t have a good eye for the X and O’s but I noticed the same type of issues last year meaning at times, it looked like our WRs were running right into the defensive coverage, so is this issue really new? More of a trained eye should be able to see what St F was doing after first seriesUDan wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 9:44 am https://udreview.com/3-out-delaware-get ... me-opener/

I’m looking for some more short passing game where you just get the ball in talents hands and let them do their thing ala the Wimberly play. Give us some more Jojo and dare I say Lutz…. Then drop the bomb
“Because of what we do on offense, we got extremely different looks from them than they had shown on tape all of last season, against us last season and in the first two games [of 2023]. And so it took us a second to kinda settle in and figure out what they were doing.
“They were playing a lot more zone, a lot deeper, especially on first downs, than they had shown against other people. I think they were worried about our speed, which eventually showed up when we were running the ball.”

Re: UNH
I recall when the Hens were "back" after beating a Lauletta-led Richmond team at home in 2OT in 2017, then lost by 1 to Towson (Adderly one-hand interception game) the very next week.
The most important game is the next game. A good opponent yes, but a victory means nothing if it's not built on in the weeks following.

If the offense gets out to a slow start like it did this past weekend, we’ll be down 14-0 before we knew what hit us.Caribbean Hen wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 10:23 amAnother outstanding article Dan. Yes indeed, we’re going to need 38 to win this game. Jiffy Laube will have his moments but New Hampshire can still be beat. They lost to NC Central last year at home.Udforever1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 10:37 amIf the offense gets out to a slow start like it did this past weekend, we’ll be down 14-0 before we knew what hit us.Caribbean Hen wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 10:23 amAnother outstanding article Dan. Understatement alert: This is a big game for Ryan Carty for so many different reasons

Hell Yeah....Let's Go....Great opportunity for the Hens to show what we have.

Re: UNH
UNH is a little difficult to figure out this year. Brosmer threw the ball 50 times for 493 yards against Central Michigan but threw the ball 23 times for only 67 yards against Dartmouth. Laube ram the ball only 7 times for 30 yards against Central Michigan but exploded for 180 yards on 33 carries against Dartmouth. I’m sure the opponent’s strengths or weaknesses dictated the approach but UNH’s approach on offense was considerably different in the two games which shows versatility in their offensive capabilities. Laube had 12 receptions for 295 yards against Central Michigan so he’s a real threat to catch passes out of the backfield. Laube is also outstanding as a kickoff and punt returner and must be contained. Although UD’s kickoff and punt coverage teams have been very solid this year, this is a game that I hope we can get some touch backs on kickoffs to keep Laube from having an opportunity to break a big return. Since Laube plays a huge part of their offense in different ways, this may be a game we may want to consider having a safety spy him wherever he goes on the field. We need to try to contain him the best we can.
