Certainly wish him all the best, but this is poor form by Paul. He should have committed to UD for at least one year after accepting the job. I’m assuming this had been brewing before he accepted the UD position.

Pretty sure the article mentioned that when he took the UD job, it was known by all sides that he may be offered an NFL opportunity. Carty & co weren't caught off guard & are happy for PW.
A new era for UD sports deserves a new era of thinking. Modernize everything, while keeping traditions in mind.

As someone who actually knows Paul, I disagree. Just because it was announced the other day doesn’t mean that’s when Paul started. The Browns came to him after, but that also doesn’t mean Carty wasn’t aware it could happen. It’s a no brainer on his part with experience and salary. Paul absolutely loves UD and this was a tough decision for him, but this type of stuff happens all the time in the coaching business, and if you’re a good staff, is encouraged, just like it was when the Hens hired Siddiq Haynes and then he turned around and accepted a better job weeks later.

It sucks as I think he’d make a huge impact on this program, but hopefully one day he’s back. But like I said, this type of stuff happens all the time in the coaching business. It’s pretty much understood.

If it was clearly understood that this was a risk then I stand corrected. Just feels odd that this is announced publicly and a few days later it’s off.

Such a shame but the lure of the NFL is hard to pass up.

Thanks for clearing that up. Worrilow bears ZERO blame or responsibility for the timing. The financial piece is also one that had to be a huge influence. Best wishes to Paul.

Good post.

Anyone who has significant experience understands that Paul didn't go hunting for a new job just as he got a UD offer.

Happy for the guy.

Next man up.

If hes been at UD for a while, why does UD take forever to announce?

Didn’t say a while, but happens all the time with programs, not just UD. Temple didn’t announce Pierce till like 3 weeks after he joined them last year.

Jarred Holley the new bandits coach. Was previously the Marshall DB coach, and prior to that the Co DC at Abilene Christian.
