HJ - we were walking out and right at the goal line when we saw the play. I thought, no way - that pass cannot be attained. But, wouldn’t you know it, the receiver stretched out and made an awesome catch. The team and everybody went nuts on that one. Maybe a fitting end to the spring session and, hopefully, a vision of things to come in the fall.

* Minicucci looked sharp to me with lots of velocity on his throws. Trujillo struggled a little bit but Freshman Tyler Bell looked very good including a short and long TD pass. A former UD player I watched with said the Coaches think Bell is the "real deal". Looks very athletic.

* Kaderris Roberts looked very good running the football. Bowling Green transfer RB.

* Transfer DE James Steel looked huge and active. His dad said hes around 280. Transfer OT Jack Small from Duke looked huge and every bit of the 6-6 hes listed at.

* Michigan's State Transfer DB George Mullins had 2 picks on deflected balls.

* WR Dan Parisi made a spectacular diving catch for a TD from Bell to end the Practice. Team went crazy.

* Lots of JUICE from the team throughout Drills.

* HUGE crowd there with the session ending at 11:20 am or well before the 12 Noon listed stop time.
Thanks for posting your observations HJ

WR Dan Parisi is a player my memory didn’t recall much about but by you mentioning him inspired me to look him up, therefore creating interest…

Bells usually ring, but Tyler is creating a buzz

And James Steel is a player I’m really looking forward to seeing on the field
recruiting recruiting recruiting...It ain't rocket science....We need better more athletic players...That simple....

News Journal article paints a tale of two teams.

"The Blue Hens’ transitioned nicely by leading Conference USA in total offense, passing offense and points per game in 2025. Quarterback Nick Miniucci was second-team All-CUSA while leading the league in passing yards (3,683) and total offense (3,918), which both put him among the national leaders, and running for 10 TDs.

In contrast, Delaware was among the CUSA teams allowing the most points, total yards and passing yards last year, so defensive improvement is a must."

Road record was 8-8 under Carty from 2022-2024 and 1-5 in 2025. Carty needs to figure out what UD should do differently to improve performance on the road. UD needs major changes to the Defense but no prospect so far of any significant changes to the Defense.

Why is he keeping the defense? Was he not allowed to
make a move or does he truely believe the scheme can work somehow?

From Kevin T.’s article linked in HenJohn’s post above:

[/What are the coaches like?” Carty said of 2025 lessons. “What kind of schemes are we getting? And I think there were certainly some deficiencies here and there in coaching and in playing.

“There's things we need to get better at, and I think we've taken a whole offseason to address those issues, whether it be through the recruiting side of it or through the professional development, schematic side of it.”

Sorry…copy and pasted incorrectly. But from the article I think you get the point.

I truly believe we presently have the players to have a very good defense, However, the high five Rojas defense is not working. More pressure please. Trash the bend but don't break system.

Was not sure where to put this information and did not feel it was "new thread" necessary. If you looked at social media this week, the team received their 68 Ventures Bowl championship rings. Based on the photos, they are very nice!

Additionally, Nick Minicucci received the "Most Outstanding Male Athlete Award" at the annual "Hennies" event. It was also noted that Nate Reed was a finalist for the "athletic performance of the year" - most likely for the LA Tech game.
