How soon you've forgotten the depths from which UD crawled just a few short years ago. The Colonial, er Coastal, er whatever that was is a complete mess. It's also evident you've not been paying any attention whatsoever to conference realignment, where lawsuits and countersuits have become the norm. Not great, but that's the way D-I sports is operating right now.
Since both LA Tech & CUSA have dug in on principle, the courts will resolve it within a few weeks. It's not the end of the world. The good news is CUSA already has another schedule ready to go if they should lose the case.

It has yet to be decided whether this dispute will ultimately be resolved in State or Federal court(s) and there could be rounds of appeals from any court decision. There has to be a reasonable deadline to resolve this dispute in time for an orderly transition to the CUSA & SBC 2026 Fall seasons.

This is an inconvenience.
What we left was the dumpster fire.
Re: La Tech Suing CUSA
Indeed, that was a crapfest for sure. This'll get resolved and we'll have a firm schedule. No worries, these things do get worked out.jd of de wrote: ↑Tue Mar 17, 2026 4:11 pmHampton, Campbell, North Carolina A&T, Bryant …Fightinghens2025 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 16, 2026 11:29 pm Boy …did we get ourselves into a dumpster fire of conference ? Re: La Tech Suing CUSA
I'd be very surprised if the courts force LTU to play in CUSA in 2026-27; no one wins in that scenario. The Bulldogs don't want to be in CUSA, and CUSA doesn't want them there. It's perfectly possible that the courts could rule that LTU gave CUSA sufficient notice according to its bylaws, even if the notice wasn't in strict compliance. On the second point, LTU might be disappointed to find the court will allow CUSA to withhold LTU's distribution using their response to the amount withheld from UTEP as the precedent.
I expect for CUSA to release the schedule it's already prepared that excludes LTU immediately after the legal decision or settlement takes place, and LTU to not be pleased with the financial settlement.

Re: La Tech Suing CUSA
UTEP looks to have settled for two million but gave more notice (number of years). It appears La Tech might be trying to do the same but without the notice.
La Tech needs to pay up then go to the Sun Belch. Either way, both sides need to get this over and move on.

Actually the Total Departure fees for UTEP will be in the 7.5 to Eight Million Dollar range (much paid by the MW).
Also UTEP did not settle--but followed the by-laws As Stated and will not receive two years worth of CUSA distributions.
UTEP Already had their 2024-25 revenues withheld and redistributed to members (incl. La Tech who received an Extra $417,000 share) in Late June 2025.
Two weeks later--Tech gave "notice"--but had already "pocketed" their June 2025 revenue from CUSA (about 4.1M). Of course they KNEW they were headed to the SBC--but took the money anyway. By-laws clearly state that departing members shall Forfeit Two Years of conference revenue.

"UTEP, a member of Conference USA, will owe about $8 million to the league to exit, according to a person briefed on the situation. CUSA has a grant of rights as part of its current television contract."

The Bulldogs jump right into the mix. Definitely something to keep an eye on.
