The stick thing is one thing if really true. But it just wasn’t too cold at 22 with little wind. But like I also said, only a few people really cared so no biggie. And btw, I was out by the Newark Post Office with several hundred other folks from 5-6 this evening. It was colder than it was during the bright sunshine earlier today. We made out just fine and we weren’t even running around.
Of course you were.
And with a couple hundred other folks, ya' don't say. Which reminds me of someone saying, "only a few people really cared, so no biggie."
And, no...it wasn't measurably any "colder" than the game time. Game time temp was 20 degrees (start) to 22 degrees (finish) ...5-6pm was 22 degrees to 21 degrees. Wind was slightly lower during the evening. No sunshine during the evening, but the ground was warmer...you know, something about the lag time between sunshine and thermal warming of the atmosphere and thermal absorption/radiation. Warmest temps in the dead of winter are from 3-4pm...not noon...an hour or two after the game would have ended but about the same amount before your...athletic event...began. Add in were are over a month from the Winter Solstice. Science..it is a wonderful thing.
Oh, and how many of those folks at the Newark Post Office were dressed to participate in a sporting event? Probably a lot of young athletes in maneuverable clothing running around trying to score (or something) in that crowd...heck, might as well recruit them for the lacrosse team.
PS- I've skied many times in below 0F temps...down to 25 below at Whiteface, Jay Peak, etc. Geared up...but not to play lacrosse. Yeah...same thing. Those wimpy lacrosse guys.
Loves me some below zero skiing. Made for empty slopes and unbelievable skiing. They'd turn away anyone at the lift who had any skin exposed...and anyone who didn't have additional heavy gear. Dopes would argue (But, I stood with some other slow folks in the cold!!), but limbs and lives were saved.
Bowlin', bowlin', bowlin', keep them Blue Hens movin'...
