Colorado

Post by Jaxhen1 »

Thought I would start this thread on the Colorado game. I’m not expecting the Hens to beat Colorado but after watching them play Georgia Tech, they seemed vulnerable to the run, especially QB option runs. The Georgia Tech QB ran for 156 yards on 19 carries. GT rushed for 320 yards. Hosley, the former Penn RB we played against, rushed for 47 yards. We know Nick M. can run and has a similar physical build to the GT QB King. Do we risk running Nick a lot in this game knowing Zach M., our first string QB, is likely out for awhile? Counters seemed to work pretty well against Colorado’s defense. Hopefully, Silver will be available for this game as it appeared he went out with some sort of injury late in the Delaware State game. We need for our running attack to show up big in this game. We likely won’t have the time to pass deep in this game so quick decisive passes, preferably slants , may be the best approach. Like every game, winning the turnover battle will be crucial.

On defense, we need to keep Salter in the pocket. He’s quick and can hurt us with his legs but his passing was not that accurate in the GT game. I have a feeling we may see Colorado’s true freshman QB play a lot in this game. Depth will play a big part due to the altitude. We will need to substitute a lot to keep people fresh. Bring the oxygen tanks for this one.

Our coaches need to perform well as they’ll be going up against a lot of former NFL coaches and players on Colorado’s staff. Will our coaches be up to the challenge?

I hope they get out there a day or two early to acclimate, otherwise; pass the oxygen.

Moving my DSU thread post over here…

I realize no one was pleased with our performance Thursday night, but I remain hopeful that the season is not lost. I'm certainly not expecting us to light the world on fire this year, but no reason why we can't be competitive in most games. Losing your starting QB to start the game is never easy, and Minicucci came in cold and did a really nice job. Yes, the tackling was suspect, and they did give up the edges way too often, but I'm hoping we can get that cleaned up a bit. Regarding Colorado, it definitely will be a challenge and could be lopsided, but the Buffaloes are not the '66 Packers. No reason we can't go into Boulder, have some fun, let is all hang out, and hopefully keep it somewhat competitive. Maybe I'm a dreamer, but I'm looking forward to the challenge next Saturday.

We are there just to pick up the check. Maybe grab a cannoli on the way out of town.

Do we know what the paycheck will be now as compared to an FCS payout?

Beef or antelope jerkey would likely be more accessible than cannolis. I hope the team at least leaves them grumbling about a “bad” win.

I lived in Colorado for 25 years; you don’t get acclimated in a day or two. They will need the oxygen, regardless. Big sign in the Air Force Academy stadium that reads “Rare Air.” Big home field advantage!

Colorado can definitely be run on, Georgia Tech ate their front 7 up last night. Still going to get beat, but run the ball and control the clock and we won't get blown out.

I saw the same thing Brookside. I do think we’ll move the ball . Play disciplined football, get a couple turnovers and see what happens!

with all due respect, GT is not UD- don't get your hopes up too high for us to be successful. As the C's boulders begin to hit, most probably our Hens will be the recipients of the contact. My main hope is we don't suffer any major injuries esp with UCONN(who won big at powerful CCSU) on tap after the Buffalos.
Keep the faith kick butt go Hens

If Colorado follows what DSU did [run outside consistently, sprinkle a few passes], then it will be a long day for the Hens.

Offensively, I wanna see UD get into a running game rhythm but St. Fleur, Silver etc involved early.

Like others have said, lets leave CO healthy and show some signs of progress
