Bernie Dworsky Celebration of Life Rescheduled

Post by HenFromWA »

Blue Hen Family,

Due to the winter storm, Bernie’s Celebration of Life has been rescheduled to Thursday, February 13, at 2:00 PM at the Bob Carpenter Center. We welcome all who knew and loved him to join us in honoring his remarkable legacy.

This special gathering will feature live a cappella performances, guest speakers, family speakers, a Proclamation from the Delaware State Senate, and a heartfelt message from President Joseph R. THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL SITE.

Service Details:
  • Celebration of Life – 2:00–4:00 PM at the Carpenter Club, University of Delaware Bob Carpenter Center (631 S. College Avenue, Newark, DE)
  • Interment – Private
Bernie dedicated his life to public service, education, and the University of Delaware. After earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from UD, he joined the staff in 1971, becoming an early member of what is now the Joseph R. THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL SITE, Jr. School of Public Policy and Administration. He later served as Director of the New Castle County Water Resources Agency for 26 years, earning a 2008 Achievement Award for his leadership in water policy. Returning to UD, he was a senior policy adviser and faculty member, mentoring students in the Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program until his retirement in 2016.

Bernie was also instrumental in launching Joe THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL SITE’s 50-year political career, playing a key role in his first Senate campaign and helping to shape the future of Delaware politics. His lifelong dedication to public service left a lasting impact on the state and beyond.

As a former President of the Blue Hen Touchdown Club, Bernie was a passionate supporter of Delaware football and an avid Blue Hen fan.

This is an open invitation—everyone is welcome. Please feel free to share this with others who knew Bernie. We look forward to celebrating his incredible life with you.

This message has been authorized by the Dworsky family. For any questions please contact Bernie's son David at (302) 358-5830.

Thank you!
