Thanks for the heads up, Caldwell.

2024 Delaware Football Schedule
8/29 Bryant 7 p.m.
9/14 at NC A&T * 1 p.m.
9/21 Penn 6 p.m.
9/28 Sacred Heart 3:30 p.m. (Parents & Family Weekend)
10/5 at Monmouth * 1 p.m.
10/12 Maine * 1 p.m.
10/19 at Richmond * 3:30 p.m.
10/26 UAlbany * 3 p.m. (Homecoming)
11/9 Rhode Island * 1 p.m.
11/16 Campbell * 1 p.m.
11/23 at Villanova * 1 p.m.

7 home games. 2 evening games, 2 mid-afternoon games (Parents and Homecoming), the other 3 at 1pm. Decent spread.

Since we are not really competing for the CAA title/playoff birth, not sure any of the games will be switched to accommodate TV slots...the CAA probably won't want to highlight a departing team.
Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS

Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

Disappointed we don’t have an FBS game, but all things considered, not a terrible schedule. Would love to finish out our FCS run with an unofficial CAA title, and a win at Nova to wrap it up with a nice bow. Understand that’s wishful thinking, but a guy can dream, right? The best thing about 2024 is that it’s the final step to our future in the FBS. Can’t wait to see the Hens take on Colorado in Boulder. That will be an epic road-trip!!!

We go from no FBS games in 2024 to three, including two against P4s, in September 2025 alone. Could even be four if the open date on Sep 20 gets filled. Buckle up!

Well Carty has a year to start getting some serious talent on that roster or we might be reading a sad article after 2026

A tale of two opposites: A look at how two former CAA schools navigated into FBS waters, one cleared all hazards and it’s all fair winds and following seas ahead while the other is losing steam and has a bridge on the horizon….

Ok all drama behind. I thought Carly was very focused on on upgrading our talent and was doing a good job in his first two years because ultimately, he will be as good as the players he brings in.

I’m interested to see how he continues to do that with the move up
recruiting recruiting recruiting...It ain't rocket science....We need better more athletic players...That simple....

Carty rescued us from the Lost Decade. He has a long way to go, but the trend has been upwards. Happy to see him navigate the next couple years.

In basketball, there is a 7’4” guy tearing it up. Someone said that era was over. 😂

Hate seeing only two night games; bring back some Saturday night lights. Would like to see most of the home games at night including Parents Weekend. Do a family event during the day and game at night

I agree a lot of kids have sports during the day on Saturdays 6 PM 7 PM starts are great for families with kids old enough to stay up so you school aged kids.. Once in conference USA they’ll be night games, but they mostly be during the week in October. Don’t know if we’ll get other night games in there hopefully in September when it’s hot as heck

I'll make the first prediction for the season. 8-3 with a losses to Nova, Richmond, and one other game where we come out unprepared and choke. Same issues as the last 3 years. We blow out the bad teams by 3tds as the team speed is overwhelming for the bad teams and we are equal on the lines. OL and DL remain mediocre against good teams and defensive scheme remains the same, we continue have a tough time with teams that are physical, can run the ball and rush the passer. Going to be very clear lots of talent upgrades needed prior to stepping on the field at Colorado in 2025.

Have we seen anything in terms of recruiting, impact transfers, player development, scheme changes, or opponent skill level that would make anyone hopeful my above predictions are off? I just don't see anything to get excited about with this upcoming season.

When did 8 win seasons become unexciting? Asking for a friend.

Good question, jd.

8 wins and consistency suddenly became not good enough when Carty took over…just as quickly as getting to *and winning* national championships became not good enough when Keeler took over.

But, 8 wins per year (in bad conferences and as an independent) and zero national championship appearances for decades was somehow awesome in the good old days.

A bit confusing.

The 2024 schedule is not exactly thrilling, but there are 7 home games and tailgates to enjoy…with the building anticipation of the 2025 season schedule upgrades and the knowledge that we are leaving the dreck of the once mighty CAA behind.

Not sure how this new adventure will work out, but staying in the MEACNortheastCAAD2 Conference wasn’t going to cut it. Looking forward to some cool road trips and a warmer weather Bowl game in the next several years.

C’mon, Carty. Keep the upward trend going. :D
