Sounds like 03 left a fair amount out.

Going to be interesting what she does with Carty’s contract? Was his first deal “4 or 5” years? Does she extend early & give him 3 years in FBS? I'm not sure, I give him much more than that in CUSA? Is less than a 3rd place finish in year 3 acceptable? Only time will tell.Hensfansince03 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 4:14 pm Congrats to the AD boss lady, well deserved for all the infrastructure improvement and bolder vision for UD athletics. The WAC and FBS move are major accomplishments that UD never pursued until she arrived. She has done mostly everything right except bring in coaches that can win at the equivalent of the support provided.
On the field highlights are a Field Hockey NC, one men's and one women basketball NCAA tournament appearance, and 3 playoff football teams, 2 of which that made it to the second round. Thats not much on field for 8 years..... Glad she did the right thing and got rid of Rocco when she did, one more year of him would have been a disaster.
In the power 5 winning is the most important thing and that part of her resume is not strong. This has to be a make-or-break year for both the Mens and Womens basketball coaches. Not convinced this football coaching staff is FBS quality. We shall see how she grows and remedies these issues over the next few years, she will probably still be here.

The timing of Carty's hire and the move to FBS comes off as moving the goal posts after the game has started. Yes, he moved the needle forward for UD football in FCS. However this is his first HC job so is he ready for the move to FBS? In all fairness to him, he needs some additional time starting with the real move into CUSA play in 2025. Is he the guy to successfully make the move into FBS? I hope so, but only time will tell.Hengrad07 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 4:01 amGoing to be interesting what she does with Carty’s contract? I would say HE needs to make the right moves if wanting to move forward in FCS, like making decisions that may not be popular but necessary, hire an OC and maybe a different approach / coach on defense.BlueHenBobby wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 8:58 amThe timing of Carty's hire and the move to FBS comes off as moving the goal posts after the game has started. Exactly right. The timing may be difficult but thems the breaks.BlueHenBobby wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 8:58 amHowever this is his first HC job so is he ready for the move to FBS? Carty needs to prove that he's the guy to lead the program into FBS play and coach like his job depends on it. The leash needs to be short and tight. We cannot afford to flop going into CUSA. Good enough will not do. Best foot forward in 2024.

Those were two of the things I felt were of paramount importance at the end of the 2023 season prior to the move up to FBS. They are even more important with the move up. I read Rojas' interview and it came off to me that he is open to some change this year in terms of size, placement of players, and some more frequent 4 man fronts. Hopefully going into 2025 he will move even further away from the 3-3-5 that includes the acquisition or development of some bigger, stronger D-linemen and/or linebackers. There are probably more than a few reasons Carty does not want to give up the OC duties, but at some point he is going to have to. Perhaps with the development of his current staff and/or acquistion of new staff he will make the move.hensfan40yrs wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 10:04 amI would say HE needs to make the right moves if wanting to move forward in FCS, like making decisions that may not be popular but necessary, hire an OC and maybe a different approach / coach on defense.BlueHenBobby wrote: ↑Wed Mar 27, 2024 8:58 amThe timing of Carty's hire and the move to FBS comes off as moving the goal posts after the game has started. not both head coaches, but Gregg Perry and wife both reported to Edgar....Cluck U wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 3:17 pmUniversities hire couples all the time. Want to hire a great professor? Slight challenge having them both report to the same boss, but is has been done before.
