I disagree. You don’t have to be 1st team CAA to have the ability to be a significant contributor at the highest level. Just look at the contributions that Andrew Carr and Justin Mutts made to their new teams.finpxz1 wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 3:54 pm Jyare is a very nice player at our level, but I worry that he may be over estimating his ability to be a significant contributor at the highest level. He didn’t even make 1st team CAA. Can he be a 10 and 5 guy at UConn, probably. Can he be a 17 and 8 guy at that level, doubtful. Regardless, wish him all the best and hope he finds what he’s looking for. MI just got another scholarship so he and his staff better get to work.

GO BIG BLUE!
Re: Jyare Davis to the Portal
Best of luck to Jyare and thank you for all your efforts on and off the court towards the betterment of Delaware men’s basketball and UD. You represented us well.
If this shocked anyone, you respectfully aren’t paying attention and if you are looking to blame anyone, that would be the NCAA.

Re: Jyare Davis to the Portal
I would have been surprised, if Davis didn't leave since he was planning to graduate. Is UD required to pay for credits & tutors after the end of this semester? I would imagine they could cut off access to the facilities & trainers, if they so wished.
That said, if a player doesn't contribute after 2 season, NEXT… No coach should be handcuffed by a recruiting error!

Not suggesting he can't play at a P4 school. But rather, I see him as more of a supporting/role player at that level, and not someone who will be a major factor in the ACC or SEC. He's kind of a tweener...not big enough to be a force in the paint, and not skilled enough to be a big-time 2 or 3. Regardless, he's not gonna make a living in the NBA, but he will do very well overseas. Certainly appreciate his contributions and wish him well.hoopster wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 5:10 pmI disagree. Don't blame the NCAA. All of these changes were pushed by many college programs, states, litigants, and the courts that continue to rule 100% against all NCAA efforts to retain any semblance of sanity in college athletics.jd of de wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 7:08 pm Best of luck to Jyare and thank you for all your efforts on and off the court towards the betterment of Delaware men’s basketball and UD. It's tough to fault Davis considering his graduation and probable move to a Power 5 school, where he'll likely receive a substantial NIL deal. Have you contributed to the Blue Hen collective to help pay Delaware athletes?

It is an unspoken “secret” that Assanis spends lavishly on things…while crying poor. UD also spends money on certain “in” things that don’t generate revenue. That is backed by facts (numbers don’t lie), yet our local “news” paper won’t consistently grow a pair and report the depth of what is already known.bluehens2005 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 23, 2024 12:13 amThey sure are…. UD does not have a revenue problem…they have a spending problem. And they (typically) want others (taxpayers and students) to pay for their bad habits.

Maybe report the “facts” here then. You know. The things you know that few do. Earn a reputation as a reporter/member of the media. I mean, gohens already has a media rep so it wouldn’t be a novel idea.
These supposed insider incuendos ring a little hollow, just like UD crying poor, and seem a little like typical university faculty whinning.
With that said, I am getting more concerned about the timing, size and even viability of the infrastructure expansion with all this money woes discussion. This is the time to make the FB upgrades a top priority and just do it.

Re: Jyare Davis to the Portal
Wouldn't be surprised to see Jyare to wear orange and play in the ACC next season. On a visit there at Syracuse this weekend.

Syracuse lost 6 players, 5 to the portal and 1 declaring for the draft. What’s wrong up there?. Coaching or perhaps the way of the basketball world today?
Best of luck to J’yare if he decides on the Orange!

Why???? The young Man has earned the right. You have explained in many words and posts this is the way it is.Cluck U wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2024 3:03 pmMaybe Dan can talk him out of it…cold winters up there.
Why can't our players take advantage of it? It is the way it is.
When it comes to Basketball, "I'm smarter than you and you know it"!!
