We harrassed Napolean enough that he turned around and flipped us off. A VERY proud moment for all of us in Section J

Booker really layed him out a couple of times. He even fumbled once in the '85 game that we won by 3

HenJohn, I cheated, but in 1971 UD hosted Villanova (W 23-15) and Temple (L 27-32). Also in 1973, we hosted UConn (W35-7) and Temple (L8-31). That same year we played away Rutgers (L7-24) and Villanova (L7-24). So the 1973 Team played four Div. 1 schools.

Was UConn considered a major back then? 71 was before the divisional setup.

Late in the 71 loss to Temple we were driving for the winning score deep in their territory but fumbled.

Happened right in front of me. Best team we ever had IMHO. Should have been undefeated. Still named National Champions. Roger Mason fumbled, as I recall. Made up for it the next year - 45 rushes in the rain and mud at Temple (the Johnny Bush 100 yard pick-six game). Sports Illustrated used to do a college roundup at the back of each weekly issue in which they ranked the teams in each region of the country. As I recall, UD was ranked in the top 5 in the east (might have been northeast) among ALL college teams.

I agree Big R that was the best team I have seen at Delaware since I started coming to games. We were well on our way to winning that game when Roger fumbled on the 8. We had a great drive going too. That one stung for a Long time.
