I can't recall the last time ND played an FCS team.
Well, technically, we'd be in transition. Does that count as a fully FCS team or an FBS team? We would have 85 scholarships, so we could not be an official FCS team, right?
Hope springs eternal. That is a destination that I would make. Saw a hockey game there, way back in the day...but not a football game.
Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS

Was talking to a Notre Dame fan yesterday. The thought is one of those open dates (probably Nov. 23) is going to be vs. Army at Yankee Stadium. However, Army has 14 schools listed as potential 2024 games on this normally reliable site, not including the Irish.
Army is moving to the AAC next year so they'll have conference games they didn't have as an independent. Their schedule will be in flux until all of this is sorted out. However, if they can get ND on the schedule I'm sure they'll find a way.

Cluck, my understanding (although I could be wrong) is that we will not be at 85 schollies next year. I will be posting some notes from a media conference call with RC on the December LOI signing day, but one of the things he mentioned is that there are a lot of moving parts. FCS schollies are “equivalencies” and you can break them up into multiple grants in aid. That’s where we are today. FBS schollies are one-for-one. I’m not even sure he was clear at the time as to how this all roles out. He said they were still going through due diligence looking at how other schools have handled the transition.
Thanks, Big R…guess we are all learning as we navigate this transition.
It will be good to figure out where we stand…especially since the CAA has limited the number of schollie players we can use during our conference game (IIRC).
Looking forward to more info.

With the way the NCAA counts equivalencies once a player has their undergrad, and that covered a lot of our 2023 roster, it’s very likely we were at least in the mid-70’s range for the number of players receiving full rides. This early in the transition it has to be a lot to unwind.
I can reasonably see where we would need to get a number of players through their grad degree programs in the spring semester to get to a place where we know where we are at.
I hope the administration is smart about how much they increase tickets & parking, especially with UD probably going to take their lumps early on in this move up! Would hate to see an exodus of fans due to cost increase. Especially the die hard fans who are on fixed incomes, that have been following them for 50 years!
