Trying to think…
Who is the only Delaware Fighting Blue Hen coach to win a national championship at the I-AA/FCS level?
Hmmmmmm…20+ years of trying…nope, not Tubby.
Brocco Rebuilding The Right Way Twins? Nope. That was a Lost Decade.
How about that KC Keeler guy?
DING-DING-DING! He accomplished what other Blue Hen coaches failed to do. Winner!

Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS
Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

Don't forget to thank Tubby for all the good players he left for KC to win the 2003 NC. KC here 11 years 7 years no playoffs!Cluck U wrote: ↑Sat Oct 14, 2023 7:45 pm Trying to think…

Yes and no. We were within field goal range twice, and once went 4th and 2 with our 3rd string QB. Don't mind giving the freshman that type of experience. In fact half the secondary was 3rd string and some of the rest were not at full strength. They just had their bye week and we were playing our second P5 team. We have a bye week now to get some players back. The 2nd string QB is out for the year. No one else is out for the year and hoping for a good game at West Point. Presser after Penn St.

Back to MAC discussion. Think we need to continue apply noise and hopefully by May-June we could go to the MAC for 2025. This fits the conversations you heard. Also fits the MAC media contract time frame for early renewal.
In 2014, the contract went from 1.3M to 8M for the remaining 3 years and then to 10M. https://www.crainscleveland.com/article ... ough-2027#
Also CBS contract https://getsomemaction.com/news/2019/7/22/foo ... nsion.aspx

I think the America East deciding "screw it, we're starting football up" is more likely than teams going to the Patriot League regardless of what Delaware does or doesn't do in FCS.Bluewyn Gold wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 4:24 pmYou'd have to think the Patriot League will come calling again to W&M, UR, and 'Nova. Maybe a more compelling institutional fit for all three schools.
Maybe that's one reason why the CAA expanded as large as it did?
Patriot League: Holy Cross, Colgate, Fordham, Lafayette, Lehigh, Bucknell, Villanova, Georgetown, W&M, and Richmond
Coastal Con: Maine, New Hampshire, Rhody, Bryant, Albany, Stony Brook, Monmouth, Towson, Hampton, Elon, Campbell, and NC A&T
Am East: Maine, New Hampshire, Bryant, Albany. Maybe Towson and William & Mary move over, plus Rhode Island, Richmond, and Nova for football. That gives the Am East 9 teams out of the gate, 10 if Delaware stays down and decides to be in America East (seriously, at this point, the Am East is on par with the CAA in terms of quality).
Coastal: Elon, Monmouth, Stony Brook, Hampton, Campbell, NC A & T. The Big South-OVC alliance breaks and Robert Morris, Gardner-Webb, and Charleston Southern join from football to get the league to 9.
Just my spitball as a UD employee: I'd rather see us stay in FCS but leave the CAA to prop up America East instead of move up if the option on the table is Conference USA. Between travel for literally everything else and the league makeup, there is no advantage to being in a league where you get to play in a bowl game in Mobile in a 70% empty stadium. Staying in the CAA is a non-starter but Conference USA is not it for options. Hopefully, the Sun Belt can find one more taker to even things out and work out something on travel.

It would be tough to see the other teams (non FB or BB) travel to NM State for regular season matchups, but I suppose stranger things have happened? The travel of C-USA makes the Ohio/Michigan centric MAC look reasonabletomdawg00022 wrote: ↑Sun Oct 22, 2023 9:54 amI think the America East deciding "screw it, we're starting football up" is more likely than teams going to the Patriot League regardless of what Delaware does or doesn't do in FCS.Bluewyn Gold wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 4:24 pmYou'd have to think the Patriot League will come calling again to W&M, UR, and 'Nova. Army to AAC:
https://www.espn.com/college-football/s ... ame-intact
A source told ESPN's Heather Dinich that the Black Knights and Midshipmen will not face other in an AAC regular-season conference game and that the rivalry would continue as a nonconference matchup. In a scenario in which Army and Navy finish in the top two in the conference standings, matching them up in the league's title game, they would play each other in back-to-back weeks -- first for the AAC title, and then in the rivalry game the following week, the source said.

Wow that’s huge news on two fronts. One - a shocker that Army finally joins the AAC, this had been talked about for years - ever since Navy joined, but Army wanted to remain independent. Surprised it’s happening now with the relative strength of the AAC having been watered down.UD '01 grad wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 9:58 am Army to AAC:

Two- it continues to leave UConn and UMass wandering around in the desert when it comes to finding homes for their FBS football teams. The financial losses both are taking has to be taking a toll.
UD to FBS. I never thought I’d see the day

Re: Will Delaware join UMass to the MAC
The last line above is untrue regarding financial loses. We are losing the same or less than when we were FCS. Perhaps the AAC raids the A10 as with Wichita and Navy.
