In reality, UI's reclassifying backwards is not evidence of "moving up"; in fact, just the opposite. They simply couldn't compete favorably in the FBS and were losing tons of money. Their institutional decisions were limited to either canceling football altogether or moving back to the Big Sky. They remain the lone example of a school that's reclassified from FBS to FCS.

Ziady's swipe at schools that reclassified was as inaccurate and arrogant then and it is embarrassingly unprophetic now.

In reality, Ziady's "move up" to chief of a Division I athletic department wasn't really a move up for him and definitely not for UD, as William K suggested. Thankfully for UD, he's now back in an associate position at BC.

Idaho might of dropped down, but the QB is the real McCoy and WR Hatten is FBS good…. Strike that..NFL good

As we saw in Frisco in January of 2011, when a good QB starts connecting with a good WR it can be lights out for a Defense

This dynamic duo is why Idaho is ranked #6

Will add the UMass example that did everything wrong with the move up. The administration is contributing 1M less to the football than as a FCS. (Know it was said the UDel was one of the only profitable FCS programs.) The general premise is that the floor is you loss as much as fcs, but the ceiling is much higher.)

We will earn nearly 1M with an under size share of College Playoff revenue and media than being in a G5 conference. We will earn 3.55 Million playing Penn State and Auburn this year.

A complete botch job because the UMass administration didn't have realistic expectations and a unified plan for their AD from the start. UM would have likely been in a much more favorable position now had they joined the MAC as an all-sport member, developed a competitive FBS program as part of a conference, played all home games in Amherst, and made capital improvements to McGuirk. So many bad decisions, but it all started by allowing the hoops program to determine the fate of football.

What makes anyone think Delaware will be a playoff team this year?

We return 2 starters on defense.
On offense we return 3-4 linemen, 2 RBs and 1 starting receiver.

We lost QB #1
We lost QB #2
We lost QB #3

Personally, I have a pretty low expectation for this year's team.
I'll be happy if we finish above .500
Well, to be honest, our #1 QB was very limited in his ability/willingness to take off running (vertically, not running horizontally for his life), so that limited our offense. QB #2 was serviceable, but not a real threat in either the passing game or the running game. QB #3 was just a short yardage runner.

Best QB depth evah!

So, now we have QB #4 battling a transfer QB for the starting position. Both can win us games. Carty’s O needs a QB who can toss the piggy AND take off running. In that regard, our two QBs are a better fit, so we should see a more wide open playbook. How high their ceilings are remains to be seen, but things look promising.

Our schedule is ridiculous (as it has been recently with the weakening of the CAA) with only a few games that could be challenging. Most of the tougher games are at home.

Our kicking game is light years ahead of the disaster that was left to Carty. We should now expect much better red zone production, better field position and better balance all over the field due to our kicking/punting/special teams units. In other words, the kicking game upgrade should dramatically help improve both our defense and offense.

Our OL has to be better than last year. Period. Bigger, better communication, better understanding of the offense.

We are LOADED at RB and WR. Speed, size and talent.

On D…still undersized on the DL. Someone has to step up. The good news is that most CAA teams aren’t built to run over smaller DLs…we are not in the MVFC. Athletic in the secondary…with physicality. They will be hitting people. Ware looks to be taking Whitehead’s spot (who knows how practices will shake out as the new faces get their chance to show their stuff). Plank’s spot is also well covered with a physical player. Seems as though we have a lot of depth there. LBs are not numerous, but we really play with a hybrid LB/DB, so expect the bigger DBs to fill in.

We should be fun to watch.
Spot on Cluck, speaking of DBs, A'Khoury Lyde hasn't received much attention and looks like one of those guys that could emerge.
Henny Good call on Lyde, he was featured in the KT article this morning and and assist to Mike Adams for pointing him towards Delaware

Very Athletic but hasn’t played at college level yet coming off ACL surgery

Close to 20 offers out of HS

I remember the multi-OT game that the Panthers gave the Cyclones in 2019. Run it back?

HaHa

Things not going well for N Iowa or any other FCS team Dan

The disparity seems to be getting worse with Delaware being one of the few exceptions

Time for Delaware to slide right into the vacancy left by JMU, rent it out for a while and win big until our new home is identified

Actually I thought that Idaho dropped down because they and NMSU were kicked out of the Sun Belt due to they’re being too remote from the rest of the conference.

Ugly game.
Tubby: 3 national titles, one won on the field, all D2
Keeler: 3 national titles, all won on the field, one as a player, two as a coach, 1 D2, 2 FCS
Carty: 2 on-field national titles, one as a player, one as an OC, both FCS

Carty - get an FBS bowl win!

Rhode Island at Nova should be a good one, Hen fans should be pulling for the smallest state in this one

Will Monmouth beat Laffy? Should be close

Maine will get some Maine weather treatment on the road down in The Burg today. The Tribe is not exactly clicking like last year though

Campbell at Elon - will the talented Camels get over the hump in the CAA?
