Maybe the volume and loud music but I have been to plenty of places where the PA announcer doesn't sound like a Vince McMahon employee.

Hey I took my nephew to MANY WWE Wrestling matches back in the day and actually enjoyed it, I just dont want the UD Football & BBALL PA guy to sound the same. Id like to say I am getting used to it and then I hear a "3rd Down and SEVUNN" and I wince.

:-)

Drove by the Stadium yesterday for a close up and things are looking good.

I saw a worker with knee pads on this morning. Maybe they are starting to tile the bathrooms? That would be done prior to installing toilets. Several painters are busy working inside. That indicates lot's of finished walls somewhere. I believe most or all of the interior cinder block walls have been painted.

Next time you drive by tell us what is going on at the north end.

I'd imagine the completion of the Press Box exterior would have to start soon.

A new fly through would show a lot of progress from the last one a couple months ago.

Today, they have removed all the scaffolding off of the Whitney Center roof.

They are installing the lights on top of the Press Box.

And a load of red steel has been placed on the main wall way on about 10 yard line.

I was at the stadium parking lot today with my son and watched the second light raised into position. Then I went over to the north side and ended up speaking with the site manager for Barton Mallow and also for EDIS. Very nice guys and answered a lot of my questions. I wouldn’t expect another fly through with a drone - too many interior walls, etc. But I’m sure we will see more videos. EDIS posts them around the first of each month on their Facebook page.
Then we went to UD Creamery for some ice cream and frozen steaks to take back home.

Rich...... Tell us what you learned about the finish on the exterior walls that are now gray. That was a surprise to me.

Ron, thanks for the reminder. As I had mentioned to you when we talked, I was told that they will be metal panels.

I think, when looking closely at this artist's rendition, it is possible to see the grids that delineate the panels.
https://sites.udel.edu/freas-ppd/projec ... ic-center/

The blue "patches" that can be seen underneath the lip of the press box roof are NOT the same as the blue board that is the underlayment. The blue material we can see is different, and is as impermeable as the gray AVB (Air-Vapor Barrier). So, it will not need to be covered by more gray AVB. The metal panels will overlay both the gray and the remaining blue. When it's time to install that, they will be using swing stage suspended scaffolding like they used for applying the AVB.

I was also told that the paving and sidewalks that will surround the building will be starting up in the not-too-distant future. My impression was early July, if not sooner.

Also, the entrance with temporary wooden doors that we see facing the Bob, is actually the main entrance. I had thought it was the one centered in the front of the building.

It looks great! Think where we were last June. I wish the construction photos were dated so we could remember, but there is still a record of how far it's come.

Here are 4 shots from Saturday. On the second level, back in the shadows, you may be able to make out a glassed in wall to the club area. Also, note the gap between the stadium and the press box. That’s quite an optical illusion created by perspective because we know that the press box does not extend to the end of the stadium seating area. However, It may be that the only connection between the press box and seating area are the two stairways.

Maybe it is just parallax but looks like the gap between the press box and the back of the stadium is pretty wide. Wonder if they are planning on filling that gap? How far above the back row are the windows on the press box? Probably just parallax again but they appearance is that the box windows are not that far above the last row, but all looks great. Are the camera still on? A view from the East Stands would be great.
