Re: Live Construction Footage
I've been trying to get an answer as to whether the new box will also be named for my father for more than two years now. It's kind of a trick question, because the answer I am sure is "no," but I think my mom would like to know that while she's still above ground. Happy pandemic, everyone.
Re: Live Construction Footage
on to page 88 of the slowest construction process in the history of the state of Delaware just finish the "dam" thing already
Re: Live Construction Footage
Obviously your first rodeo.
Re: Live Construction Footage
Looks like a lot of people's first rodeo
Re: Live Construction Footage
They must have started putting the glass in either yesterday or today - looks nice around the elevator area and obviously on the south entrance to the building. Looking very nice.

There is no doubt that everything will be ready by the end of August. What's the hurry. I have been in awe by all the extra work that is being done. Things that I never expected. Things that you do see in the artists renderings.

Very good look at the press box now with all scaffold down and the sub exterior is complete. The units on each end look like they could be the coaches boxes.

I think it looks great. Really glad we left it to the experts as far as timing of the project. I see nothing that indicates it won't be ready on schedule.
One thing and this is NOT a negative.
I know they were reduced slightly, but does the New Press box make the stands look smaller? It appears like that to me when you look at the camera image.
Still think it is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Live Construction Footage
I think, due to perspective, it probably does make the stands seem smaller. And had the majority of people who sit in the club seats wanted their suites to be at the top, with the double-decker addition shown in the original artist concept, I think that may have made the stands seem even smaller.
I love what is being done. The fact is, we can't see the majority of work being done now since it interior work. Drywall was delivered a couple weeks ago, and much trash, etc. has been removed from the south end of the building in the last several days and hauled away in the large dumpsters. There's no telling what has been reemoved from the north end, so I imagine the interior looks much, much different than it did in the drone flythrough from late March. I'm keeping my eye out for another video update from the EDIS facebook page, but really don't expect to see another until early June.
I am also wondering if the two end parts of the building are coaches' boxes. The "sill" on the front is lower on both, so I was also wondering if they might be camera booths. But I am thinking Coaches' boxes is more likely.
I would love to see blueprints or plans for the layout of both the Whitney Center and press box, but I don't believe they have been published anywhere that is accessible to the public.
Oh, and by the way, since the old press box bore the name "Bob Kelley Press Box", I think that should be carried forward. It would be fantastic if some other nod could be given to Elbert Chance, though I'm not quite sure the best way to do that.

Re: Live Construction Footage
Regarding inside work over the last week:
1- the contractor that install fire protection sprinklers has been very busy. Several days there were 3 trucks.
2- Several truckloads of sheet metal for ac/heating duct work has been delivered and much work going on.
3- There are many cinder block interior walls that have been painted. I feel certain that all of the drywall has not been delivered yet but what has is likely finish sanded and primed.
4- About 7 days ago there were 20 bundles of the blue boards delivered to the press box roof. About 8 more bundles were placed inside.
5- Of course we can see that most of the window glass is installed. The amount of time spent makes me feel that the window glazing is completed on the front of the building.

Re: Live Construction Footage
It's looking good. I guess the box exterior will be the same beige color as the parts of the WAC building (?). I don't see poles for the lighting over the box. One pic (an early one, I think) shows one big bank of lights centered over the PB and a later pic shows two sets of lights like placed over the elevator shafts. Not sure which. Does the north end of the WAC look the same as the south? I hope it all goes very well and a we have a season.
Re: Live Construction Footage
Much more likely those are spots for cameras. That's where they had wooden platforms in the past few years for cameras so I would expect they would continue to do that now with the longer pressbox.

Hey, are the gameday locker rooms, specifically the home team's locker rooms, remaining in the Bob, or are they adding something in the Whitney for that? I would've assumed they stayed in the Bob but wasn't sure.
