Guys in the Portal

Post by DCHen97 2.0 »

Figured it may be easier to track in one thread.

Reeder - may be hard to get him back now with 2 B1G, 2 Big 12 and an ACC offer

Pitts- this could be a tough call. Tweeted he has 2 MAC offers and USF so far

Henderson - may come down to which of the offers has the best OL or being happy finishing out as a Hen

Coe - hasn’t tweeted anything

Buchanan- ?

Of course they are. What college player isn't? If the goal is to showcase in front of more eyes - both on live and on the tube. In other words, CAA and MEAC opponents aren't going to draw many flies.

Let’s slow down here for a moment and catch our breaths. Your concerns are completely warranted especially when you consider how the last season ended in terms of fan enthusiasm as well as the last decade of incompetence…and for all we know the next hire will be equally bad. But before we worry about schedules and who is or isn’t leaving let’s get a coach. More importantly, the RIGHT coach. Don’t rush to try and bring back players who we lost with before. Get a guy who can recruit and win right away. It happens all the time, we’re just not used to it.

Be patient for the right coach now or 5 years from now we’ll be back to square one.

I agree with your comment. I really believe that a couple of our guys in the portal will remain with UD after they speak with our new coach. Whoever that might be. Our offensive guys would welcome a HC that is creative and offensive minded. Our defensive guys (LB's) would value a coach that uses his LB's as weapons rather then as _______ . (You fill in the blank because I really dislike the way they were forced to play under Coach Rocco)

It is very flattering to be offered by higher tiered schools but they could possibly be recruited as depth rather than as starters. They have to consider that. While I agree that Colby could play anywhere he also would get recognized at UD... Many others, including his brother, have. There are hundreds of players in the transfer portal so I hope we get a new HC that knows how to use it to our advantage.
