Many Division III still buses men & women basketball teams together. Women play at 4:30pm and the men at 7:00pm.

Crazy to think at the Division I level until you consider how crazy things could be this winter.

More likely to happen busing both soccer teams. The 2 lacrosse teams would still need 2 buses as would the baseball / softball teams.

Inconsistent with social distancing, if still recommnded by then.

The fascinating things about Furman’s cuts (aside from making my two FU lacrosse hats collectors items) were 1) that they impacted one in every 11 male students at a school that is already 57% female; and 2) they publicly stated that the sports would remain dropped EVEN IF some big donor or donors stepped up to fund them. I can conceive of no rational reason for saying that.

Brown cut 11 sports (while adding two) despite it being, well, Brown, and having at $4B endowment.

Cutting 6 Men's Sports & 5 Women's Sports. Adding Women's Sailing (increasing the disparity between Men's & Women's Sports by 2 in favor of Women's Sports) and Co-ed Sailing. I guess that "Co-ed" sports have no Title IX implications as long as the number of male to fmale participants is equal or there are more Women participants.

I think they had 25+ teams before the cuts.

Most Ivy schools are that way since there are no athletic scholarships.

These cuts came from a study that was implemented before Covid-19.

Makes sense - how much does it really cost to field a cross country team? Of all the sports that one seems pretty easy to have.

So, what is it that Title IX requires? Equal money in schollies, equal cost in staffs and operation, equal number of athltetes or what? Because, as said, a sport like cross country shouldn't cost too much and scholarships for a school like UD (not U of Oregon, for example) are probably minimal.
