Bethune-Cookman looking at conference affiliation options. SWAC and ASUN under consideration. Florida A&M has already left the MEAC for the SWAC.

Massive Shutdowns will not stop the virus. It will only slow it. Flattening the curve was about slowing the spread not stopping the spread.

The younger populations in the hospital have been reported by the media in the last few days with no stats or sources.

If you want to see college or professional sports ever again realize athletes are going to become infected with the virus just like the cold or flu. This will go on indefinitely.

Watch Florida. The news is reporting cases through the roof in the state however the death trend has actually slightly declined since April. This is going to be the case study with the news media going against the governor. Looks like Florida is trying heard immunity with the young while protecting the high risk populations. Makes more sense in the long run with building immunity which is the only long term solution to the virus.

In the end we will have sports again. Capitalism will win. University's need the money from sports. Rob Ambrose from Towson was on our local news last night. Said that he expects the season to be played and the schedule kept as it, the question is will fans be allowed and if so in what capacity.

If this happens the question becomes how many teams are going to lose games when star players get infected and are forced to quarantine and not play for 2 weeks? Are teams and training staffs going to have to put in aggressive protocols for testing? What happens if a team lies about someone being infected to keep them on the field? How does the NCAA regulate this? Is managing COVID is going to become just as important as creating the weekly game plans.
Hensfansince03, When players/staff members (who are significantly older & more vulnerable) get infected, teams may have to forfeit and teams/conferences/leagues/sports may have to shutdown. Further, in many places in the US the curve is trending upward again. In addition, a new study reports that those who were infected with covid19 and had covid-19 antibodies lose 95% of their "immunity" within 2-3 months. Finally, those countries who have been the most restrictive and have gotten the most cooperation from their citizens, have had (per capita) far fewer cases/hospitalizations/deaths, and have been able to re-open without significant increases in new covid-19 cases and are now much closer to life as it was pre-covid-19. That is not what we are doing in the US and we continue to suffer for it. I guess we will just agree to disagree.

CAA related.

https://bluehens.com/news/2020/6/23/del ... 20-21.aspx
1. Unless UD is the highest seed in Men’s/Women’s Soccer, Men’s/Women’s Lacrosse, Baseball(?), and/or Softball(?), UD hosts only one CAA Championship, in Field Hockey. Meanwhile, UD’s former AE mates Hofstra, Drexel, and Towson, host at least two CAA Championship Tourneys each. Tourney hosts appear to have been selected based upon the top programs in each sport. Just shows how far UD (which used to be dominant in the AE) has fallen in many sports. I don’t know why, especially since athletics has received considerably more resources under Pres. Assanis and AD Rawak.

2. The change (which I support for at least for 2020-2021, if not beyond) to every team participating in each CAA Championship Tourney is probably going to hurt UD Baseball the most. The higher number of CAA Championship Tourney games is going to require a deep & talented pitching staff to succeed, something that UD historically has rarely if ever possessed.

Get ready for no cheerleaders or bands on the field this fall apparently too. The American sidelined them today, expect other leagues to as well.

I don't see the rationale (at least for the Home Cheerleaders & Band - I get no travel for away games) for banning Cheerleaders & Band. :?

Bill the rationale is "social distancing". They can be in the stands but not on the field. Player runs out of bounds, runs into a cheerleader or band member waiting to go on the field at the half - makes physical contact, catches the virus & misses the next three games. Understand now?

So, are Bands allowed if they are confined to the Stands and not allowed on the field?

Know any specifics JD?

I know we learned how tough things were at E Wash, a few weeks ago.

I currently don’t. The info came from a Tweet by a Assoc AD prior to a Eastern Washington BOT meeting to discuss the proposed cuts. To my knowledge the BOT decision has not been made public yet.

This does not bode well for the resumption of football this fall at any level.

As far as the NFL goes, they should cancel the entire season.
