The bye this week probably comes at a good time, gives the Hens time to recoup after the big effort at Pitt and refocus on Elon.

It appears a huge key to UNH's win was pressure on Elon's QB Cheek

four picks and two of them were pick sixes.

Lets see what Coach Rocco and his defensive coaches come up with given the extra week to prep..

What I saw UNH doing wasn't more than your standard stunts and occasionally sending a 5th (backer or safety), but not that often; UNH's front 4 owned Elon all day. IMO it all started when Elon discovered they couldn't run the football. That's where it's starts for us IMO; take away the run like UNH did.

That's right JD...Neither team nothing fancy....Elon wants to run the ball...Watching this bore fest I saw 2 teams where we have a decided edge in skill set...No doubt Elon will attack us w their running game and play action...Offensively we will continue our screens and swings and getting ball ouy quick.. We have to call plays to help our inability to protect the QB..Henderson will make some plays....Both teams play hard and hit....Elon won't beat us w speed....NH was able to get in their back field...If we can some how create some havoc we will be fine...The key is stopping them on first down....For sure a tough road game but one we should handle....Elon is nothing special....They are coming off 3 bad games where they have had their own O line issues.. Giving up 12 sacks in last 2 games...They are averaging 3 yards a carry...Not too good...Lets play 4 quarters protect Henderson and get off the field defensively...Number 98, a D end, is a pretty good football player and will cause us trouble...

I look for us to play one of our better games of the year, Henderson has settled in, the Defense is playing better and I look for us to be able to run the football a little Saturday. Hens win 2nd Conference road game of the season.

I thought they were pretty good early but they were beaten soundly by Wake...No embarrassment, Wake is a good team... JMU thrashed them....Turnovers killed them against NH, 5 of them...This is a playoff game to them...If we cannot beat a middle of road CAA team we do not deserve anything...If they get there with 4 then we have problems....We need to be aggressive....

I am expecting an All Out effort from us in this one Joe. If I am wrong then we will have along ride home but I really think we handle them down there and come back for some needed Home cooking.

Hey, if we're a playoff team, this is a team we beat. Plain and simple, the road looks good for the Hens. Winnable games against Elon, UNH, Richmond, and Albany. We win one of the other three against nova, Stony Brook, or Towson and we're in the playoffs with 8 wins (if we get in with 7 wins we backed in). The defense is looking promising, Henderson makes the offense have some teeth in it, and the schedule breaks nicely for us. Time to get it done. Let's get it started this week with an Elon team we match up well against.

It’s hard to get a read on this Hen squad. Their three wins are over unimpressive opponents, who are currently a combined 3-10, however their recent loss to a good Pitt team was a very impressive effort. If this team is going to get more than 6 wins, Elon, at 2-4, has to be one of those wins. Pretenders or contenders, we will know a lot more after this one.

Agreed...this is a must win if we hope to get to 8 wins. Having the extra week to get healthy and prepare for Elon should be a huge benefit. And Coach Rocco historically has a very strong record coming out of the bye week. This needs to be a business trip for the Hens. Let's get down there, take care of business, and get back to Newark for 2 more winnable games against New Hampshire and Richmond.

We have to take them one at a time...Hopeflly our mentality is not to say we can lose 2 and get in....If we give the same effort as we put up in Pitt game that's all you can ask...It will fun watching Henderson develope..I will put our skill set against anybody in this league. We are above average across the board....We all know what needs improvement...

Coach Rocco says, in today's NJ, that this weeks practice will focus on the running game and on pass blocking. The defense will focus on pressuring the QB. I think it is about time to address those things with a little extra emphasis.

When your players lack natural pass rushing skills, the coaches need to do a better job of scheming pressure on QBs. So far that has been very lacking.
