Joining Gino and Kerr...

Glad he's out of Baltimore but was hoping he'd go somewhere that had some more weapons around him. I think a big part of his struggles in Baltimore had to do with not having weapons. Hopefully they draft a WR and Sanders can remain a threat along with Lindsey. We shall see. Go Joe.

As for Baltimore I will echo what Boomer Eison said..."good luck making it through the season with Jackson." Good luck is right.

I think they will be hard-pressed to win anything that matters with a running back/receiver at QB. problem is that today's fan likes flash and "excitement" over everything else. All I hear on the radio here is LJ brings excitement.....well excitement does not necessarily bring championships. Especially in a league that requires you to actually have talent to throw the football. I will be interested to see When Flacco has success in Denver and Baltimore is languishing with Lamar Jackson, how many of the Flacco bashers in Baltimore flip and start complaining that Ozzie, Steve, and Decosta made a mistake.

Just read that Joe Flacco has the most career passing attempts (5,670), passing yards (38,245) and passing TDs (212) by any player never selected to a Pro Bowl. Interesting stat to say the least.

One man's take on trade, although admittedly Barnwell is not a fan of Flacco:

Heard someone refer to Flacco once as "a poor man's Eli Manning." ... Eli has not won a playoff game outside his two Super Bowl MVP seasons and has a career regular season record of 116-114. Flacco's regular season record is 96-67 plus 10 playoff wins and one Super Bowl MVP. Eli gets his share of criticism too. ... He's seen as a likely Hall of Famer as well. Is it all just playing in New York or does two Super Bowls counterbalance other mediocrity?

Agreed...And he has been surrounded by mid level talent at the skill positions his whole career and in the ten years he played there had 6 OC's? How does anyone expect to have consistent production when you routinely switch OC's and systems every other year?

Balt-

Agreed on the "flash" love affair. How is he going to make a full season? The dude can't throw...

It will be weird not pulling for the Ravens this year though.

Amazing that Flacco had a rag -tag receiving corps for 10 years and the Ravens did nothing to "remake" the offense. This from the NJ...

Ravens overhaul offense with QB Jackson in mind
David Ginsburg
ASSOCIATED PRESS
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Greg Roman is off to a running start in his new role as offensive coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens, working long hours to construct a unit that can fully utilize the talents of quarterback Lamar Jackson.
The Ravens closed the regular season with a 6-1 run behind Jackson, who keyed an effective ground game with frequent forays out of the pocket and downfield. Baltimore ended a three-year hiatus from the playoffs, winning the AFC North before losing to the Chargers.
The goal this offseason is to make an effective attack even better. Promoted last month from assistant coach/tight ends coach, Roman is rewriting a playbook that was originally devised for a pass-oriented offense led by Joe Flacco.
“We’re trying, soup to nuts, from the ground up … to hit the sweet spot with how we put this offense together,” Roman said Tuesday.
The focal point is Jackson, the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 draft. After Flacco injured his right hip in November, Jackson took over and displayed the slick moves and elusiveness that earned him a Heisman Trophy at Louisville.
The rookie finished as the team’s second- leading rusher with 719 yards. He spearheaded a ground game that finished second in the NFL with 152.6 yards per game – including an league-high 1,607 yards rushing over the final seven games. “You’re going to see a lot of elements of that this year,” Roman said.
The result, he hopes, is something on a much grander scale.
“We have run an offense here that has kind of
morphed over the years, and we really want to start fresh, start new,” Roman said. “Everything from our language, our formations, how we do everything. Rebuild the thing. That’s one angle.
“The other angle is really, how do we want to move forward with Lamar Jackson? He’s a unique player with a unique skill set, so let’s build an offense that really accommodates that, as opposed to try to fit him into something that other people had once done.”
Roman took over for Marty Mornhinweg in part because of his work as an offensive coordinator in San Francisco and Buffalo, where he helped construct effective attacks with Colin Kaepernick and Tyrod Taylor.

Yup! they did nothing. Actually less than nothing since they got rid of key offensive guys along the way and always drafted defense. But Flacco was supposed to throw the football and then be responsible for receivers actually catching the football.....As well as the line blocking for him......and the defense holding the lead he gave them with 1.5 minutes left....etc, etc, etc......Most of the time the last 5 years, he would reach the end of his drop and be staring at 1-2 defenders in his face because his line could not stop a thing. Unfortunately, I am not sure that Denver has much more on offense to offer Joe unless they draft and hit the FA market hard.....except for possibly a coaching staff that wants to actually play to his skills.....

New GM , right? Also, what a wonderful and novel idea to develop their offense to fit the players' strengths.
