Inside Lacrosse transfer tracker shows an incoming middie from Fairfield Hank D’Ambrogi, said to be a freshman during the 2023 season. Tracker also shows Paul Reidy, goalie, moving on. Tracker is presented in two sections: transfers in and transfers out. A Delaware player Corbin Minard - FO, is shown transferring in to St John’s but not transferring out from Delaware. I checked the rosters at blue hens.com. He was on the 2022 roster but not the 2023.

Wasn’t he possibly the 2024 goalie for UD?

Your guess would be as good as my guess. He started 7 games in 2022. This past season he and two others played negligible time.
Our resident expert Lilaxx no doubt would have a better feel.

I’ve been told that John McCurry 6-0 180 attack has left Navy Prep and will play for the Hens. He led the state of New Jersey with 140 points as a senior.

I am not sure what Henway is trying to imply with his comment about videos of John McCurry on the bench...McCurry never attended Navy. He committed to Navy before graduating Wall high school as an Inside Lacrosse 4 Star recruit this past spring. He was a last-minute Navy de-commit and the Hens were lucky to pick him up.

Now if you are looking for insight into this recruit, I can provide some information. In his three years playing varsity lacrosse for Wall Township he scored 197 goals while picking up 133 assists (330 points). While those stats look impressive, the major caveat is that Wall does not play against the top teams in NJ. Each year they face two or three tough competitors (Bergen Catholic, Ridgewood, Bridgewater-Raritan) and they always seem to lose.

McCurry is 6 foot 180 lbs and is very tough and very athletic. He played wideout on the Wall football team. The biggest thing he has going for him as far as playing time at UD, is that he is predominantly right-handed. The Hens are WAY too left-hand dominant on offense. Only one righty contributor on offense returns (Cam Acchione), after losing Tye Kurtz and Clay Miller to graduation. That means the Hens will trot out lefties JP Ward, Mike Robinson at attack and lefties Drew Lenkaitis, Nick Jessen, Jason Kolar, Matt Acchione, Finn Morgan (A/M) and Brendan Powers at midfield. That is extremely problematic when the field is imbalanced in one direction. That opens the opportunity for McCurry to get playing time at either attack with Ward and Robinson or as a fill in with the aforementioned lefty middies. The only other righty option at attack would be Riar Schell (sophomore from Boys Latin) who showed promise at times last year on the righty wing and from X. Depends on how much he has improved during the off-season.

Hens have a lot of offensive talent, but filling the hole that Tye Kurtz left on the righty attack spot should be priority one for DeLuca. McCurry might be the answer.

Lots of talented defensemen coming in this year too. And just in time. The Hens lose two starters at close defense with Kevin Lynch and Owen Grant graduating. They also lose Kevin McCormick at LSM. Look for freshman Collin Hebble to get a shot to start. He is a big super-athletic pole from southern California. I will cover all the in-coming freshman after watching them play this fall. Ethan Krauss from NJ is another freshman middie/attackman that could see some playing time (But he is left handed).

Thanks for that LILAX.

I was up in Little Silver, NJ last week and heard talk of UD recruit, Ryder Villani, from Red Bank Reg. HS. Is he on your radar?

Villani is an athletic player, but probably not a contributor this year. He has good size 6' 2" 180 and great speed. He might be converted to a SSDM because of his athleticism. He has not played against great competition in high school and did not put up big numbers offensively (just over 2 goals a game).

Gravante was the MAAC rookie of the year this past year. Gayhardt was second team all Patriot. Seem like nice pickups.
