A book has been published about Joe's experience of being hired as HC at DSU. The article from the Delaware State News here discusses it. Very interesting period.

You would think after being beaten 105-0 that they would welcome help from any front.

I was always a big fan of Joe, as both a player and a coach; he was a good one on both counts. He turned CR from a mediocre HS football program into a consistent winner and State Champ. He worked nothing short of a miracle at DelState (I had no idea of how bad the initial circumstances were) and turned them from a laughing stock into a winning program that Bill Colleck helped build as an assistant and continued winning as Head Coach when Joe left for James Madison. I was very sorry to see him quit coaching, but he has obviously been very successful in the banking biz. I'll have to get the book after reading the article.
