Silliness, shame of it is that at the point at which we started playing them most of their better teams had come and gone. Should have been on the schedule when Purzici was there.

Per FootballScoop, DSU has offered their HC position to Rod Milstead. An 8 year get of the NFL and former DSU asst coach, Milstead is the current head coach at La Plata High Coach in Maryland. Milstead is expected to accept the DSU position.

If there is truth to this, Milstead should stay at the high school. The very fact that they would offer to a H.S, coach shows how the coaching community views DSU as a Coach's Graveyard"

How then would you get six home games every year with an 11 game schedule? Or are you OK with 5 home games every pother year?

we will have no prob scheduling a 6th game if we were to lose DSU....

IMO the title and premise that DSU may be dropping football because they have not yet named a head coach is misleading and faulty. Read the Jan. 17th article from Andy Walter here.

https://delawarestatenews.net/sports/ex ... ching-job/

As Andy points out, the last two DSU coaches were not hired until Jan 21st and Feb 5th.
The fact that DSU “... does not have a full-time president or athletic director” is probably much more contributory to the delay.

While It is my opinion that the premise of DSU dropping football because they haven’t yet hired a coach is incorrect, I do believe the delay will just continue to extend their lack of competitiveness at the FCS level. One could argue that those last two late hirings helped dig a hole from which it was hard for either coaching staff to dig their way out. So, the new coach and staff will walk in with one foot already in the grave. It will take several years for them to re-build their depth, while continuing to accrue losing seasons that will only exacerbate the problem and cause that coach to be fired, etc., etc., etc.

Big R i believe that DSU can not look at their program like other programs. they can not fire a coach after 2-3 seasons for lack of success. they need to give their coach 6 years easy to build their depth and starter talent. otherwise it is a hopeless,situation.....

Like who is going to come to UD without UD returning the favor? Do you believe that UD will be able to buy a home game every season vs. an FCS opponent? Or maybe UD should just try to get West Chester to play at UD every year like they did for a long time (especially since games vs. a Div II opponent are no longer a negative for selection to the FCS playoffs)?

Sorry guys but that is a lame commercial slogan for a really bad beer. However, it was cleverly remodeled to an excellent end zone sign during the payoffs for the EAGLES. It read --Welcome to the pit of misery -- Philly, Philly.... Now that was good!

The Northeast Conference, for one, would and has been willing, to visit Newark, without a return. However, some of them might beat us, unlike the Hornets!
