What were we proud of about Delaware ?

Postby tubby on Fri Jul 14, 2017 4:21 pm

I am not an expert as you all know and can't x and o at all, but,I know what made us special. It was playing good football and educating our players. If our new coach can return to what Tubby and Dave did what more is there? I think our new coach gets it.

I was proud of everything - bluehen brand of football - coaches - band - stadium - tailgating - announcer - all of it. Hoping to see everything restored. Hens Baby!

I was always proud when I wore a Blue Hen cap or shirt and strangers would strike up a conversation with me about Delaware football. People would always speak with such respect about our Hens. Always made me so proud. I'm sure many of you have had the same experience.

I will never stop being proud to be a Blue Hen....The rough patch will only make the taste of victory sweeter. However what I miss most is that feeling walking to the stadium knowing we would win against the Temple's the Nova's etc etc rather than walking there hoping we would be competitive against the likes of the Sacred Hearts of the world...

The knowledge that opponents were honored...and a bit in awe...of visiting UD.
Traveling to away venues and seeing bus loads of UD fans making the trip.

And mentioning Delaware football and the immediate response being an affirmative nod followed by "the Blue Hens".

Pride.......bring it back.

And....wrap it in a new facilities package it will deserve.

grass. Winning. No need for gimmicks, our record spoke for itself.....a home game was as lucrative as a road/unwinnable/FBS game......Creative offense........stability

The Ivies really racked up the Ws- from playing mostly each other I guess from the beginning of football time.

I would like to see what the numbers are just based on FCS status in both overall wins and losses and winning percentage.......

I gotta say that I've never once felt proud about any sports team, no matter how much I enjoy following as a fan. To each his own.

There are some admirable qualities about BHFB for sure, some mentioned here. Being mentioned in the same breath with Dayton, PL and Ivies doesn't excite me.
