Time to move on

While the nature of any fan board is to second guess and question, I think it is time to move on and remember what is important. Namely, running a clean program where great student athletes want to be here. Instilling a sense of pride that every opponent entering the Tub wishes they were playing for the Hens, not against them. Being the best FCS team every year.

We can question the new AD as to why this was the best candidate, that is fair and one does wonder, including me. But the decision has been made and now it is time to get behind the coach and hold him accountable. Ditto the AD, he will be held accountable with this move (and what he does with basketball and other programs as well). I think it is fair to give the new HC 3 years. He was not left a mess, but a fairly good team.

What I think is needed to move on is the following:

Let KC Keeler go. I admire much of what he did getting us to 3 title games and giving us a championship. KC ran a claen program and bleeds Blue. For all those who did not care for the sunglasses, the ceo comments etc, let it go. If one is honest , there are probably many who would never have liked ANY replacement for Tubby. Tubby was a great coach but we needed to move on. We need to move on again. The lows were low with KC, but the highs were great. Give him credit and wish him the best.

As for the new HC, whats done is done. He has a solid nucleus, lots of returning starters and one of the best backs in UD history. We will not know for a year or two whether his record as an assistant is mixed because of his talent or those around him. We may not agree with the pick, but let's give him a chance. I, like many have my doubts, but I would rather be proven wrong than right and watch the Hens languish in mediocrity.

It is time for a new chapter of Blue Hen football! I for one am excited for August!!!

Good, thoughtful post...and I didn't notice it was from a newbie until it was pointed out. Maybe those of us who have been here since July of '05 should get over ourselves....
