HURLEY

Postby Doowopper on Fri Jan 18, 2013 4:47 pm

Anybody know how the surgery went on Hurley's foot? I'm assuming he will miss a good portion or perhaps all of Spring practice. Any updates from you lads that are in the know?

I don't know if he's even a great fit for this system. Rutgers ran a Pro-set not the Spread. I don't know what Brock's plans are but who knows what this means for Hurley...

Huh? Hurley can throw the ball. Delaware's spread was not a running QB offense. Hurley has more than enough of the skills to play a pro style offense. A pro style offense just means more snaps under center.

So much for thinking that he is just a "pro-style" guy. I think he will use multiple sets but 3 wides will be used alot as he has strength at WR.

Been watching some of last years games. He has a strong arm but lacks accuracy, pocket presence and decision making is very suspect. KC wanted a running QB and Trent, though not a burner was a threat to run.

“But, ultimately, it comes down to players, not plays,”

such an accurate and intelligent statement -

you left out the part about running for his life, if we protect him a bit he just might be pretty darn good

I think you're going to see a willingness to change looks. Pierce would (IMHO) be much more effective at TB with a couple of steps before he gets the ball. We don't seem to have the foot speed on the OL do be doing ZBS plays, either. I don't think he's a doctrinaire systems guy.

IDK about that OH, you have to admit we might have already seem some of #30's best days, if give credit to the last regime for getting a high return on the talents of #30 by using him just the way they did, the puzzle will be to get the most out of everyone

No question he's been productive as he was used. I'm biased in that I believe runners run best out of running sets, if play-action is effective.

AP will also be more successful if the other team doesn't know what p,ay we are running, if we run some screen passes and if we run some two back sets. It is all about keeping the defense off balance. -- and getting a rhythm.

Exactly. I said it after watching the UD/ODU game, but Hurley looked just as good as Heinicke, even better when it came to scrambling, when he actually had time to scan the field and put the play together.

A strong O-line would have taken last years team deep into the playoffs.
