Thanks for finding that video. That is the first that I had seen or heard the new coach speak. I think we are going to see an entirely different personna on the sidelines, as far as interacting with the players, and being more "hands on" than we have seen.

With his offensive performance it just might be better if he keeps his hands the 'he!! off'. He needs to hire a successful, or at least, innovative OC. If he hires one of his RU assistants as OC, I'll tune in to Roller Derby on Saturdays and root for my gal 'Spike'.

cannot disagree. That is why his assistants will be telling. I always prefer a defensive HC over an offensive HC. A defensive guy will look to hire a strong OC and let him fly with it. An offensive guy will hire guys to do what HE wants to do whether it works or not. (See KC Keeler and Brian Billick) I am not optimistic that we will see much different on the field next year.

More player interaction, bonding, teaching, etc. is probably a better use of time than interaction with the refs. I don't know when I have ever seen such activity change a call. Talk to the guys that can actually make a difference in the outcome of the game. JMO

I actually don't want to see the head coach repeatedly interacting with the players during the game. That's not his job, that's what he hires assistants for. He can and should be in on the conversations but head coaches shouldn't be huddled up on the sidelines going over blocking schemes with the offensive line. This job is bigger than that and this guy needs to be able to see the big picture and make sure he has people in place to do the other things. If he wants to directly handle or be involved in the play calling that's fine, but as for the "teachable moments" during the game if he's doing that then we're in trouble.

Last weekend, while New England was pummelling Houston in the AFC Divisional Round, the Patriots scored a TD to go up 38-14. The rout had long been on, but CBS TV camaras still found time to find Bill Belichick talking with one of his players, coaching him up. When Shane Vereen hauled in the pass, Gillette erupted. Belichick was seen glancing up at the big screen to see the result of the play, then matter-of-factly went back to coaching his player.

But yeah...head coaches at the FCS level should just let their assistants do the teaching.

how bout just putting him in a cage over on the other side of the field - say like in Keelers corner, K.C might have well just coached from over there

CH, KC ,as well as Tubby, are ancient history and have no bearing on this decision which needs to stand on it's own merits.
If the hire in and of itself is acceptable then so be it but leave KC, Tubby and Dave out of it.
