Well, I watched the "interview" video on BH.com and now have a face to the name. New coach in town, it will be change and we needed some change so let's see how it goes. Certainly, they lined up lots of positive testimonials for the email to STH/UDAF membmers. Didn't get one from Joe, Richie G (he was a Blue Hen, right?) or Tubby though. I'm willing to sit back and see how things go. Will be real interesting to see the staff develop and recruits confirm. Should be lots of interest for Spring ball, either positive or those portending a train wreck. Hope HZ doesn't uncover any personal flaws before he gets a chance to show his mettle.

We probably don't need to bookmark the threads where people repeatedly said they thought KT was wrong about Brock.

Speaking of KT, UD somehow got the money for the buyout...because they are telling every other department to tighten their budgets in a big way. Harker has a lot of explaining to do if he just pissed away seven figures of the university's money just to get rid of a coach he didn't like.

Oh, hey, what is the budget for the new staff? Harker, the guy who tells everyone else to cut, didn't have a problem paying his new folks, a boatload of them, bigger money then those he replaced. It would seem odd if he forced Z-daddy to low ball one of his boys.
UD football...playoff bound in 2013...with KC's recruits.

Some folks need handrails for humor.

This may be the 1st somewhat negative post I've ever made concerning UD football but that is exactly how I feel at the moment.
Ziady was supposed to be a breath of fresh air and reinvigorate the Hen fan base. He at least was partially responsible for firing a coach who had a decent record and ran a clean program although not too successful the past few years and was to use a vigorous nationwide search to find a coach that would truly inspire the fans and turn the program around. Well instead he hires a close buddy that has proved unsuccessful during his entire career and was probably on his way out at Rutgers. I find it unbelievable that Mr. Brock was the best available coach out there. This guy had better surround himself with a miracle staff and begin with a first rate OC and let him have free rein to make this a dynamic scoring machine and also have a staff that is excellent at recruiting. Joe C you are normally my barometer in what is going on with Blue Hen football and I usually agree with you 100%. I love your enthusiasm for this new guy and I sincerely hope you are proven to be clairvoyant and all turns out to be a bed of roses and my doubts and reservations are without merit. To close let me say that despite my present feelings of dismay and disappointment I can assure you I will be in the stands cheering on our Blue Hens as usual but I just had to get this off my chest.

Here's an interesting quote from ESPN:

"John Garrett is still employed at Valley Ranch as the tight ends coach, but he applied for a head coaching job at Delaware and didn't get an interview. Dave Brock, an assistant coach at Rutgers, took the job Friday."

Didn't get an interview? The fix was in for Brock from the start I assume.
Keepin' it real.

Apparently the 'national search' went from Newark to New Brunswick.

Zaidy first contacted Brock " to gauge his interest in the position". Evidently Brock was'nt even aware there was an opening. It was a done deal well before the position was ever announced. They still are required to announce the position & at least give the appearance that a fair search took place.
It's always been my philosophy that it doesn't matter if the glass is half full or half empty......... It simply means there's more room for Captain Morgan

Check ... never said he was wrong :D :D but I did point out the 1st names floated in the AD didn't turn out not to be the hire. But in this case it was.

Sorry you were not impressed! The point that I was making was that for way too long, we have not defended our Hen House. You are young and probably cannot understand the way it used to be at home games in really, really better times. I'm sorry you have to waist your time attacking an old Blue Hen fan that only posts occasionally and is almost always totally positive. You evidently do not know squat about section J. Great people and we support one another and stick together. A still large amount of long standing STHs remain there. We may be wrong but we feel we are the most consistently passionate fans at the TUB.

You seem to enjoy smackdowns in your massive amount of posts so bully pulpit for you hidden hero. WE ARE SECTION J.

After great pre-game tailgate, sometimes that's all we can remember, we are aging a bit.

Makes the 8 year old softball players around us happy.

Your section mate took my post the wrong way, J. Everyone's all hopped up and sensitive on here lately for some reason. Thank you for providing the levity I was seeking.

Undeniably true for better or worse. Brock doesn't seem to have much going for him but maybe he will be ok. The little speech he gave on the Rutgers marketing video was embarrassingly bad. Strikes me as having a very limited intellect.
