Did they ask for a donation?

Interesting choice of words saying he didn't take the "easy way out". As this hire looks more like the case of a first time AD making the first hire of his entire career and "taking the easy way out" by hiring someone he knows, rather than someone he hasn't worked with, but who's resume indicates he is more qualified, competent, or successful.
mlaxlurker: A bit off topic here, but after all, we are talking about coaching changes. Why has UD mlax not progressed further? We are in the middle of the prime recruiting area, play in a great facility for lax, and we have been largely bouncing around. Very disappointing that the 2007 final four appearance did not move us forward.
Now, other schools are starting the program. What would it take bring the sport back on the upswing? New coaching staff? Nothing personal, I know we have a good guy running the program. But, it consumes a lot of resources and seems to bring little "to the table".
Maye after mbball, maybe this should be the next focus for Z-Daddy?
The biggest cause for concern with MLAX is the same with UDFB. We're in a constant state of limbo, regarding conference affiliation, commitment, support, identity, ect. and it has more to do with the AD Administration not having a plan or vision for what they want the program to become rather than any coaching, recruiting, or gameday execution issues.
I mean, save for EDD transfering, what UD Athletic Program has any identity or recent string of success? I can't find one...and so hiring and firing coaches is just a band-aid to a much bigger and concerning problem.

Not the answer you probably want to see, but men's swimming and diving has been doing a nice job up on north campus over the past 3 years. Olympic Trial and NCAA qualifiers, (individual) conference champions, rewriting the UD record books, kicking a*s in the classroom. They'll never make anywhere close to the amount of noise some folks on this board require to be judged "successful," but (from my biased viewpoint) they're hardly a debacle.
Now then...back to football.
