2010-2011: Te'o and Kekua are friends. "She was gifted in music, multi-lingual, had dreams grounded in reality and the talent to catch up to them" (South Bend Tribune). "They started out as just friends," Te'o's father, Brian, told the Tribune in October 2012. "Every once in a while, she would travel to Hawaii, and that happened to be the time Manti was home, so he would meet with her there."

Now, in the age of Skype and Face Time, we are to believe he never made an attempt to see what she looked like and ND is supporting him. Either he is stupid, the supposed prankster is a genious or he and his family are damn liars. You can't make this stuff up.

No matter how bizarre this is, there's got to be a motive. Pure speculation: Maybe he's gay and tried to disguise it by claiming to have/had a 'girlfriend'. Now that he claims she's dead, no more making excuses for not dating females. Just a guess, but IMO, plausible. Seems strange that a very popular football star would have to depend on 'online' dating. If his story is true, then he's one extremely gullible young man. I wouldn't draft him.
